QPR have gained only one point from a hectic holiday programme – but boss Harry Redknapp insists this is the right time to be playing.

Apart from turkey, a seasonal perennial is the cry for football to be shut down at the end of December and resume like the rest of Europe in January.

But the manager is having none of it. In fact, he thinks clubs would be playing regardless – only in warmer parts than a chilly Loftus Road against Doncaster tomorrow (New Year’s Day).

He said: “I just wonder what would happen if you had a winter’s break?

“I think you would all end up going around the world playing games on money making exercises to say India or Dubai or somewhere like that.

“I’m quite happy playing games. What else are you going to do? Watch telly or something?”

Rangers are looking for a first three points in four games and revenge over Rovers after a surprise 2-1 defeat at the Keepmoat in November.
