Hopefully this link will work.... I was just watching this through the proboards.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cnd-ra_IGYs&feature=player_embedded Should be of interest to DT.
Roller, I am overwhelmed with nostalgia. I was there! My Dad had advised me not to wear my scarf to the Den, and you can't see many colours in the crowd. What a dump that was.. Amazingly muted celebrations for confirming promotion - probably everyone wanted to get away as quickly as possible, preferably unharmed. Utterly brilliant, great find, thanks.
Bit ironic commenting on this. Was just reminiscing on a trip to Leyton Orient on another thread. Cold Blow Lane... what a name. Evocative. I watched that Rangers team loads but wasn't at that game. Had to work Saturdays back then. Lump in yer throat watching Dave Clement and Micky Leach again. RIP guys. See QPAAAAAGH (Tony Hazel) still around then - and Dave Thomas, one of my all time faves (Oddball just doesn't do him justice on here!). And baldy (I can talk!) Terry Mancini, or 'Henry' as we used to call him - what a character. One of two top Rs to have been signed from lowly Orient. Great seeing our best ever skipper again. A real tactician Tel! And Parkesy, Stan, Gerry, Don. What a team in the making that was! As for Millwall, Harry Cripps, Kitchener and keeper King were all leges back then. Blue remembered hills... 2011... Where were we? Ah, the Fernandes Revolution!! Ha... no time like the here and now though eh guys?!!
I just stumbled across it looking for something else, I'm really pleased it meant something to you. Wasn't that a fantastic header by Don Givens? Interesting to see your namesake letting the Millwall supporters know the score when they gave him some stick. Remind you of anyone?
John Delve on the bench! Amd only one sub. Couple of years later we seem to have had a new defence except for Dave C. Hazel was always second string and I was amazed when Arsenal took Henry. Most of the rest did us proud in Div One. Great shame from those times was the broken legs for Busby and Ian Evans - 2 great players who were never the same after.
Aaaaagh, deep embarrassment. Great player, Legendary stepover, ran like he had a broomstick up his backside.
Well put Stan! Was going to mention his strange running style, like his knees were bound with invisible ties. Amazing watching him cut his way up the middle of the park, evading this challenge and that. People couldn't get the ball off him!
