    Match Preview;
    After a very quiet New Year's Eve for our squad, we start 2025 by welcoming Watford to Loftus Road. This is another fixture against a team we played relatively recently, after heading to Vicarage Road at the end of November for what turned out to be a 0-0 draw. Since then we've won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1...a run which has lifted us to 17th in the table.

    Our visitors, on the other hand, have lost 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 since then, and they sit 7th, only outside the playoff places by goal difference. Their top scorer is Bayo Youssouf who has 9 goals so far, compared to us, with Michael Frey, Rayan Kolli and Jimmy Dunne all joint top scorers with 3 goals a piece. In fact, we've only scored 24 so far this season...not that many, and a big part of the reason we are where we are...the only team above us that has scored less is Millwall on 20, but they've only conceded 20 to our 32.

    Team news and manager comments to go up if/when on the official site, wishing everyone a very Happy New Year, and lets hope 2025 will see a turning of the tide for our beloved football team, and we'll end the year with smiles on our faces after witnessing a Cifuentes driven miracle.

    Cifuentes pre-match comments;
    'It has been a year of ups and downs.'
    'It is important for us to start the game well, and set the standard...when you are not ready for those standards you will be punished.'
    Illias Chair;
    'You know how much I rate Ili...one of the best players in the league. It is unfortunate we lost him twice...now he is in a good mood. We want to keep him in good shape for the next game and rest of the season.'

    Enjoy if you'll be at HQ, and as always...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

    Darren Ward. Players who have played for both clubs would probably be my Mastermind topic.

    I don’t have any strong feelings towards Watford either way these days after suffering the demise of QPR coinciding with their rise from lower league nothingness while growing up in the area and my two best mates being Watford which made me desperate to beat them when we rarely did (the 4-2 at Vicarage Road circa 2006 was glorious).

    There’s an arrogance there from their fans (that I know anyway) which doesn’t make a lot of sense. They’re absolutely a team we can get at if we play the way we do best. They’re soft as ****e. Some very nice players who on their day should dance around us but I’m convinced if we hit them early á la Norwich at home this is very winnable. There’s a small rumbling of discontent after a mixed bag of results and I don’t think they’re a particularly mentally strong group when things get rough.

    12:30 on New Year’s Day shouldn’t be allowed. Nobody wants it.

    As always, cheers Dave.

    I’m going out on a limb and predicting that we will start with one ‘striker’ on Wednesday.

    Watford are Jekyll & Hyde this season, on their day they could do us by 3 or 4 but are just as capable of rolling over. A hard one to call...

    I'm predicting around 30% possession, maximum of 1 shot on target (pushing the boat out) and a MADSEN tackle. Call me crazy for such optimism.
    1 shot on target in 3 games is absolutely shockingly pathetic. We play one up top, totally isolated. We play a number 10 (or try to) who defends more than attacks. I'm actually losing patience with Martis tactics, lack of flexibility to even attempt something different. We havent performed well all season, even when we had that little burst of results, we were still poor to watch.

    I seem to remember last season there were some similar performances on our good run but we still managed to squeeze a few wins out of them. Injuries have exposed the lack of quality in our squad so nothing is likely to change when we pick up points playing this way. Chair has been a shadow of himself and the midfield in particular have been anonymous most of this season but our tactics (or lack of them) seem to be survive rather than go for it. Watford are dangerous opponents but their form isn't great at the moment and we gave them a run for their money at their place in probably our best 45 minutes of the season, more of that please...

    According to my arithmetic, we have taken 16 points from our last 9 games, W4 D4 L1 with 12 goals scored 7 against, which is promotion form. What are people complaining about? This with a large injury list of key 1st teamers leaving us with no qualified fit strikers, 2nd choice CB's, and short in midfield. Why would Marti go with 2 strikers when we largely have had only a couple of Development strikers (actually attacking midfielders) to choose from, and without giving up the under strength midfield? I know we have been terrible at times, at Swansea and for a few 1st halfs, but we have played good football too in all these games except Swansea, 1st half Norwich most recently, and have mostly fought and defended well. All the games keep me riveted to the screen mainly I think because with the Rangers you never know what's going to happen next. ComeonUR's

    We have been piss poor all season, very little attacking threat with a striker left so isolated from the play that he might aswell not be playing. 1 shot on target in the last 3 games isn't exciting, isn't good to watch, isn't entertaining, isn't good enough. The games have had quite the opposite effect on me and my lad. They've not kept me riveted in the slightest, the odd part of a game has been interesting at best. The Swansea game was quite frankly embarrassing and pathetic. Being an away travelling fan due to where I live, the cost of watching us 'not play football' just isn't worth it anymore. I hope this changes soon but I've seen no evidence of that to date.
