Match Preview;
It seems it has been a long time since we won away at The Riverside, typical that we get a good away win just before an international break. The break has, however, given me the opportunity to watch Andre Dozzell's screamer numerous times...a day...it doesn't get boring. This Saturday we welcome Sunderland to Loftus Road. They sit 9th, having lost their first two games, then won against Rotherham and drew with Coventry before thumping Southampton 5-0...so they were probably also frustrated to hit form just before an international break. Guess it is the same for everyone.

Their top scorers are Chris Rigg, Jobe Bellingham, Pierre Ekwa and former 'R', Jack Clarke, each with 2 goals. Sunderland manager, Tony Mowbray, will be hoping to pick up his side after last season's disappointing playoff defeat to Luton Town, having finished 6th in the table.

As for us, having spoken about tiredness a few weeks ago, I hope the international break has given Ainsworth the opportunity to give the players a break, but also work on fitness levels so we can maintain a high level of pressure for the full 90 minutes, and not drop off in the final third of the game. Having played for Scotland on Friday, I'm hoping Dykes will be available for selection, and I'm still trying to work out when we will see Willock fully fit and back in action. Only time will tell.

Team news and manager comments will go up when on the official, enjoy those who will be at HQ, and as always...

...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

I missed our home win against Watford in March, which means the last time I saw us win at home is October last year against Wigan. I’m aware that there is a level of ‘hey, we ain’t that awful after all’ optimism kicking in after the Boro’ result and I’ll happily join in if we can win some matches at home as well. Not too much to ask is it. I’m not even demanding a goal at the Loft end. Just a win.

Cheers Dave.

That's a decent Match Day thread, Dave, with some interesting information about former players (most that I'd forgotten about).

Cheers <cheers>

Our match thread won't be started until Thursday, but in the meantime I'm hoping that you don't mind me nicking those former players details :angel:
You could nick a couple of current players Gordon

Exactly me too Stan.
( I have gone a whole year without seeing us win at home, during out premiership years)

See you Saturday, let's hope we break our duck.

Really looking forward to this match - I’m starting to think we’re going to have a team that competes this season.

Depends on what you mean by competes. If you mean competes for a play off place, no chance. If you mean a team that is competitive, is mid table and not flirting with relegation, maybe. If we stay up, it will be an achievement.

I worry we’ve created/stumbled upon a system that works well away and we’ll struggle at home. Sunderland seem to have a lot of pace and I still think we’re pretty vulnerable at the back. We’re good when we take the lead but don’t think we have many players you’d back to chase a game when required.

But it’s an awful lot better than a few weeks ago so **** it. Four points from these two games and we’re balling.
