Adam Armstrong has continued scoring, and is their top scorer, and the division's second highest scorer, with 12 goals. His goals have helped Southamton to 12 wins, 6 draws and only 4 loses this season, and they sit 4th in the table, securely in the playoffs but quite a way off 2nd place Ipswich. They are in good form though, having just beaten Blackburn 4-0 to continue an undefeated run of 14 games, stretching back to their game against Boro on Septmber 23rd. As for us, a miserable away day at Sheffield Wednesday ended an undefeated run of four games, and prevented us from moving out of the relegation zone. Much debate on the previous matchday thread over the starting line-up, should we rotate the starting 11, or stick with the same, and our strongest, starting 11. With 4 games in the next 10 days I'm not sure it is worth trying to guess what the starting 11 is going to be, and who will be rested for which game...but I at least want to see the squad try and make some clinical forward passes. I've seen far too much passing across the midfield, or in front of the opposition defensive line, and it just gives the opposition time to get organised. We need to start using the pace and power we have in the squad to really go at our opposition and get in their faces. The slow and steady build up play just isn't working. I'lll be over for this one, really looking forward to it, albeit pretty sure I'm going to freeze. Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
It’s been a full week between games so I’d go for our strongest 11. It’s a home game. Play our best and we could win but no easy task against a confident team. No time for fragile souls, we need to look to get back in the points trail again. Will be a testing time for Marti after the Weds. game; he’s got to get this team back playing again and doing the good stuff. The main worry is that although Saints are susceptible to letting a goal in they rarely let in more than one - so we need to take our chances effectively and be strong in defence. Hmmmm.
Glad you're here for this one Dave. As well as freezing, you may be slightly disappointed but I do hope you get to see a good game, win or lose. Maybe you should email the club and tell them you're over for a rare game so a win would be highly appreciated!! Bookies' odds are not encouraging.
I'll be in the middle of Bay of Biscay Saturday afternoon en route to Vigo for Sunday then onto the Canary Islands and Madiera for rest of Christmas and New Year..... depends on how good the ship's Internet is as to whether or not I can follow game.... Anyway cheers Dave for doing these Match Day threads, it makes us feel as if we're at the game especially being able to watch on Steely +. Feliz Navidad mis amigos and Vamos Rangers
La Palma, Cadiz and San Sebastian are 3 of my favourite places...... La Liga has teams in some great cities.....Forecast is for 21 degrees and sunny in Canaries so t-shirt and shorts weather..... Will have to have the old chilled Rose` just because......
Much better thanks. Turned a corner on around week 14. It's been 5 months now and pretty much pain free. Have a great trip.
I'm still p****d off from the Wednesday match Hoping for a swift and sharp retort but can't help feeling that the Pymouth and Wednesday games were big missed opportunities Anyway, was ever the Rangers way Was hoping to finally get back to HQ for this one but looks like being January now Good luck to all those going
