    QPR vs Hull City
    Saturday 1st December 2018 - 3pm
    Loftus Road

    Rangers out to tame Tigers

STEVE McClaren’s QPR side will be looking to end a positive week with three points against Hull City at Loftus Road on Saturday.

The R’s have taken creditable draws against Stoke City and Rotherham United on the road during the past seven days but will want to cap the week with a victory against struggling Hull City.

The Tigers find themselves in the bottom three after a poor start to the season, although showed some fighting spirit in mid-week to hold league leaders Norwich City to a goalless draw.

Hull certainly have quality amongst their squad to climb up the table. It was only two seasons ago that they were competing in the Premier League, but like so many teams in this division have found the Championship a tough cookie to crack.

Scoring goals has been a fundamental issue for Nigel Adkins side, with only the two teams in the league finding the net on fewer occasions.

However, there’s still a lot of the QPR squad who were on the end of a 4-0 thumping at the hands of the Tigers at the back-end of last season and will be looking for revenge.

There’s been some close contest’s between the two sides in recent years with Idrissa Sylla netting a 90th minute winner the last time the two teams met in W12.

    Head to Head

    QPR wins 16

    Draws 16

    Hull City wins 17

    Previous classic meeting
    QPR 2-1 HULL – SEPTEMBER 2017

Idrissa Sylla netted an injury-time winner as QPR came from behind to beat Hull City at Loftus Road.

Jarrod Bowen had given the Tigers the lead 10 minutes before half-time against the run of play.

Substitute Matt Smith levelled from Luke Freeman's ball in, before the Guinean international popped up to finish off after Conor Washington's shot had looped into his path.

    Man in the Middle
Jeremy Simpson – Has given out 47 yellow cards, four red cards and three penalties in 12 games this season. His last match officiating the R’s was a 0-0 draw against Birmingham earlier on in the campaign.

    Manager Quotes
Steve McClaren: "After two away results we need to make sure we don’t take our foot off the gas now. We have to move forward again.

“This is a test and a good challenge for the players. Can they do it? The third game in a week. It will be a totally different game but we have to have the same attitude."

Nigel Adkins: "QPR is going to be another tough game and they’re in good form, but we should go there with confidence and we have a good spirit about ourselves."

A closer look at our opponents Hull City who find themselves in the relegation zone after 19 Championship games this season.

    Manager
    Nigel Adkins
    Age - 53

    Previous clubs managed

Sheffield United, Reading, Southampton, Scunthorpe United, Bangor City

    Career High-Point

Won the League One title with Scunthorpe in 2007 as well as promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in 2009. In 2011 he guided Southampton back to the second tier of English football and then secured their place in the Premier League with a 2nd place finish.

    Preferred managerial style

    Pragmatic approach.

    Managerial record at Hull

    Games 50 Wins 13 Draws 15 Lost 22

    Nigel Adkins’ record against QPR

    Games 5 Wins 3 Draws 1 Lost 1

    Formation and tactical approach
The key to stopping Hull is to prevent the threat that comes from their wide players who have good quality in their delivery and approach play. Adkins side have experimented with a few different formations this season but will always have four at the back and two wingers. They occasionally play two up top but can also pack the midfield when opting for more of a defensive strategy.

    Last game and performance
Hull produced a solid defensive display to shut out the league leaders Norwich. In a game lacking any real clear-cut chances, the Tigers will be happy to have come away with a point.

    Key Player
Jarrod Bowen – An old-school winger who looks to get down the line and put crosses in, Bowen is also handy in front of goal netting four times this season.

    One to Watch
Kamil Grosicki – Never quite know what you’re going to get from the Polish winger but on his day he’s one of the most dangerous wingers in the division with his acceleration and tricky feet.

Not sure the point at Rotherham was desirable but hey ho.

One of the few away games I went to was Hull in PL when Barton got sent off and they won in the dying seconds. Joy.

Not a great place to visit as their fans get right behind their team to cheat and con their way to victory. Hopefully a few will get sent off today for multiple yellow cards for diving, dissent as well as their usual niggling in your face style of committing petty fouls. Our players need to remain focussed and professional but they are a ****e team with a ****e manager

I an back home after a great holiday in Israel and Palestine, thus the “Holy Land”. It was a really fascinating and hugely enjoyable experience which I thoroughly recommend to those who have not yet been there.

I missed the last two away games and am quite hungry to watch the R’s on the stream this afternoon, and hopefully grab 3 points in a very entertaining game.

    COYR’s!!!!

No surprises in the team selection again!

It is almost as the “good old days” where the first team would and could play each match with no need to “rest players”.

Let’s hope that LR roars then to victory!

    U R’ssss!!!

Great to be able to watch them warm up 30 minutes before the start, and hearing what's going on there, on the stream. The Cure no less now.
