I think the Championship is ultra competitive and very hard to get out of, but is miles below the PL in terms of quality. Fulham are way ahead of us and most of the rest of the division, as were Norwich last year, but neither had/has a hope in the PL. Having said that the Championship is well ahead of all other European second leagues, and quite a few of the top divisions as well.

Where I think the Championship genuinely is **** is the number of clubs and consequent stupid number of games. Injuries, tiredness and lack of coaching time all contribute to the free for all. Our season could genuinely hang on injuries and perhaps absences for ACON. Still, I suppose it also contributes to the entertainment and a bit of ‘levelling down’. It’s a nuts league, and fun to watch.

I'm sure I heard ( maybe two years ago ) that it's the fifth most watched league in the world after, The Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A.

Bloody right too, who wants to watch MLS or the Chinese League ? Absolutely no comparison in talent, competitiveness and excitement. There's a reason why we've been on Sky so many times this season, whether we're any good or not one thing that's for sure is your guaranteed an entertaining game when the Hoops are involved !

A decade or so ago I would go to the occasional mid-week Toronto FC match when I was working in Toronto. It was a mostly summer league and really the only show in town but while most of the clubs had a quality player or two, Hammersmith Reborn is absolutely correct - really, who does want to watch MLS when there are options like the Hoops and our league around

Surely a disadvantage to Toronto, playing in a mainly summer league wasn't it Maple ? By the way aren't Canada doing OK in World Cup qualifying, or I have I got that mixed up ?

Not mixed up. Canada' national men's team or doing quite well at the moment and I hope that continues long enough to get us to the World Cup. if it does, I would hope for a better showing than the only other time we qualified (3 matches, 3 losses, no goals). Few of them play in MLS.and of that few, only one I can think of plays for Toronto FC - most are playing in Britain or Europe

The MLS season runs from March or April to mid November so it can get pretty frosty at some of the home games though not the ones I attended. .
