On the first day of the season we lost 1-0 at their place, thanks to a 34th minute goal from Lewis Travis. Since then, Ben Brereton has emerged as their main goalscorer, netting 11 times so far this season. Their manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, joined in June 2022, and has so far managed 39 games, won 19, drawn 6 and lost 14. They sit 8th, the lowest of three clubs on 49 points, and just one points behind 4th placed Luton. They broke a run of 5 straight draws on Saturday, as they beat Swansea City 1-0. As for us, quite a week in West London. It just didn't work out for Critchley, and after just 12 games in charge he was released from his three and a half year contract. Given the speed at which his replacement, Gareth Ainsworth, has arrived, you have to wonder if conversations had already started, or even if Ainsworth was approached when Beale, or Warburton, or McLaren, or Holloway, or Hasselbaink, or Ramsey, or Redknap, or Hughes left the job of QPR manager. That is the list of managers who have been in charge of us whilst Ainsworth has been at the helm of Wycombe. Interesting to note, that early on in his time at Wycombe, Ainsworth released 7 first team players, including some players who had been at the club a long time. Hope some of our players will take note and realise the new manager won't tolerate any lack of effort. As many on here have already said, I'm both excited to have Ainsworth as manager...a QPR man, who was a 'Forever R' before becoming manager. I'm also a little scared that it won't work out, and his reputation will be tarnished forever. Until that happens, and hopefully it won't, I'll be cheering him on 100%... Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, and as always, plus a little extra this week... ...GARETH AINSWORTH's BLUE AND WHITE ARMY...COME ON YOU SUPER, HOOPSA!!!!
Well , just seen that Brereton Diaz and Dack are both out injured tonight v Blackpool ! Hopefully they will still be out at the weekend. Would be very handy for us indeed. Hope they still have enough tonight to beat Blackpool of course !
Expect the old girl to be rocking Saturday, at least I hope it will. Would've loved to be able to attend ffs. Are the protests still gonna take place outside the ground ?
Can we all just agree one thing? Whatever happens until the end of the season and thereafter that we on this board, as true supporters, recognise that his reputation as one of our footballing greats among players should not and will not be tarnished by any failure to live up to our expectations or should I say hopes for him as a manager. I'll make that pledge so feel free to shoot me if I start being hyper-critical of him. As most of us have said at one time or another let's give the manager at least 12 games before we turn on him and call for his head. The challenge he faces is undoubtedly a big one.
I’d like to agree with you but fans have no patience (or perspective) nowadays and I am certain that if the current run continues so will the moaning about everyone involved with the running of the club and the players, including the new managerial team. And to be fair this forum and others like it are built for fans to moan, debate, criticise etc etc. A couple of the posters on here have been so enthusiastically and consistently critical for the last couple of months that I had worries for their mental health, surely it’s better just to walk away than continue into a spiral of unhappiness?
Thanks Dave. The volley goal that Ainsworth scored before the one you posted the video about was absolutely spectacular. Hoping he can get a win in his first game.
He'll always be a legend as a player, that will never change. As a person I like him alot, that will never change either. As a manager he will be judged by me strictly on that basis, if he fails then so be it , it won't detract from my feelings about him as a player or person. If he succeeds all the better, will only enhance my feelings about him as a hoop hero !
Seriously considering it, but not in the best of health so will probably have to give it a miss. Enjoy!
