Top scorer Charlie Austin (shoulder) will be out for a few more weeks, Wolves loanee Kevin Doyle (knee) and Andy Johnson (ankle) are still sidelined, and Bobby Zamora has struggled with injury all season, although he did play for the reserves in midweek. Boss Harry Redknapp will have to assess full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto after he limped off during Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Brighton. Midfielder Ale Faurlin (knee), winger Matty Phillips (ankle) and right-back Danny Simpson (back) remain on the sidelines. Yeovil, meanwhile, look set to be without Joel Grant. The winger has been suffering with a back spasm having been caught in last weekend's 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and he was not fit enough to be involved on Tuesday night against Ipswich and could miss out against Harry Redknappp's men. Manager Gary Johnson revealed that the substitutions of Ishmael Miller and James Hayter at half-time against the Tractor Boys were tactical moves and the pair are available at Loftus Road. One player who will miss out is midfielder Joe Ralls who serves the third match of a three-game suspension while Everton loanee John Lundstram has returned to his parent club. That is a great picture of our ground mate, and shows exactly why we need a new one. Please can we have Traore on the left and Hoilett on the right, I hate them playing on the "wrong" wings.
I agree, but.... In the Leeds United match, I noticed that they swapped over at 35 minutes until half time and seemed more effective. Perhaps it was just a case of unsettling Leeds man marking setup and game plan. Interestingly I watched as the teams re-entered the field of play after half time and they had swapped back. As such, my thoughts are broadly similar, keep them in their more traditional positions, though I'd recommend switching more often, just to change things up and keep the opposition full backs guessing and on their heels.
I appreciate that mate, but all the discussions we have about who will play at number 9 are irrelevant as we can not cross when they play on the "wrong" wing. Both have to cut back into a congested area of play, neither have any reason to go beyond their man. We may as well be playing SWP on the left. Our stats show a number of shots, these are all from distance and through a multitude of defenders; next to none are actually threatening.
Just realised I will be completely sealed off from this game, flying, and will only find out the result at about 3 in the morning UK time. Because I won't be there, be watching a stream, listening to the wireless, or even following a written commentary on an app, I predict a fiesta of brilliant football, and 6 goals for the Rs. Enjoy everyone. Still lots of points to be played for.
Great post Nines Care to tell us all how you know Robbie Johnson & why you took that pic in Broadway Boulevard with her then?....!
Cheers mate, Mrs Nines saw me looking for a female 'Johnson' while I was compiling the thread. When she saw that we were playing Yeovil, she said '' Isn't Robbie's uncle their manager? Why don't you use a picture of her?'' So I did just for the novelty factor. I lifted the picture from her FB account, I haven't been to the Broadway Boulevard since 1995 Queens.
Will be on the 10.40 train from Ipswich going via the C&S before showing my appreciation to Alec. Perhaps, one of the "assistant officials", Mr. Carl Fitch will be on the same train. I hope that he is a better official than his father was/is!
Great post, Nines. The photo of Loftus Road in the sun is a spirit-lifter that even the Cargiant stickers don't dampen! I'm looking for a good, coordinated team performance today as well as the win. Things need to start to come together if we're to have any chances of reaching, let alone winning, the play-offs. We need a well oiled engine behind Austin and Doyle when they're back.
Great work again Mr 9's. I like the Alec Stock tribute. I'd go for a draw on the lady pics, both very pretty ladies. Now Rangers, please go and win this as the weather is going to be good today so a win would just top it off nicely. Come on U RRRRRRRss
Nines- I started a thread to remind everyone about Alec Stock before I looked at the match day thread. Sorry mate. Merge with this if you wish, or leave it to stand alone, no worries to me
Posters on here should keep an eye out for our upcoming opponents manager. If the same surname as yours, feel free to submit a pic of the wife to nines for Meet the Manager. Our very own version of Readers Wives.
I'm not disagreeing with you, although it could be that our complete lack of a centre forward dictates that the wide men may as well play on their "opposite" flanks so that THEY can try to get the goals we need by cutting inside. If/when Charlie is back and firing, then I would like to see them on their natural flanks too.
I'll take a look mate. I think Roller started one so I'll merge it with that one. That's an interesting concept. That's what I suspected, which tells you a lot about this squad really. If I see Green punting the ball up field from a goal kick I'll wonder why for the same reason, we have no one who can win a header. It's ridiculous situation.
Cheers nines....Just seen Rollers thread. Please merge Are you down the C&S today ?? I'm gonna try to make a quick one if you are
