Following hot on the heels of Saturdayâs slim 1-0 defeat against table-toppers Leicester City, Harry Redknappâs side will be keen to bounce back after defeat at King Power Stadium. The two sides shared the spoils in a forgettable goalless draw at Vicarage Road earlier this season. QPR boss Redknapp is hoping to welcome back a number of players for the visit of the Golden Boys to W12, including Charlie Austin, Joey Barton, Kevin Doyle and captain Clint Hill. Rangers manager Harry Redknapp: âWe still need another result. We are still one result away from doing it (reaching the play-offs) - although you never know, do you? We might not have to win another game. "We might have enough points already, but we don't want to leave that to chance so we are looking for another win." Hornets boss Giuseppe Sannino: âI won't speak about play-offs but I'm delighted (with Watfordâs 3-1 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday). We played a good game against a very good team and this gives more value to our victory. âWhat was important was winning the game and to not concede a goal in the last 10, 20 minutes was good.â TEAM NEWS QPR will be without full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who serves a one-game ban after being sent off at Leicester. Clint Hill (ankle), Joey Barton (thigh) and Kevin Doyle (knee) could be available but Jermaine Jenas (hamstring) is set to miss out again. Watford defender Marco Cassetti is available after serving a two-game suspension for 10 yellow cards. Striker Park Chu-Young (toe) is out but Cristian Battocchio and Lloyd Doyley are pushing for starts. Cheers Norway. According to the official site, Hill, Doyle, Barton and Austin are fit for today, so I'd go for this, bearing in mind that Hoilett, Traore and Benayoun are presumably still out injured: ----------------------Green---------------------- Simpson--------Onuoha---------Hill-----------Yun ---------------Henry-------Carroll---------------- Barton--------------Morrison---------------O'neill ------------------Austin------------------------- However, I'm sure Harry will re-call Dunne and put Clint at left back, which would at least allow Yun to play further forward on the left instead of O'neill.
Phil Parkes is being presented to the crowd at half time today. I hope we give him the reception he deserves. What a fantastic keeper!! Right............time to get the lad out of bed and think about getting ourselves up to the Bush. Come on URRRRRrrrrrrrrrssssssssss!!
That is what I expect too. Yun would play at left back if it was up to me. With Watfords 3-5-2 today wouldn't be such a bad time to play a 4-4-2 with Doyle and Austin up front and a couple of out-and-out wingers. I like your lineup with Barton on the right. If only we had either Traore or Hoilett fit then I'd line up with us in a 4-4-2. ----------------------Green---------------------- Simpson--------Onuoha---------Hill-----------Yun ---------------Morrison-------Carroll------------- Barton-------------------------------------Traore ----------------Doyle-------Austin--------------- I know we could get overrun in the middle but it's a gamble worth taking imo to exploit the space on the wings. Sorry no Henry for me though, in this setup Barton and Morrison could interchange positions.
I really think that we can't have a middle two consisting of both Carroll and Barton. It has to be one or the other, with a stronger defensive minded midfielder in there like Henry or O'Neill.
Not going today as I have the in-laws over from Ireland for Easter, but I like the look of that team Col. Wonder what random formation Redknapp will throw up though?
It would be very harsh to drop Yossi, since he's been on great form and has been a consistent regular for weeks. I recon we either bring on Barton instead of Carroll or not at all.
Fair call awjm. It could leave us very open without a recognised holding midfielder. I guess the debate is still open re Joey's ability to do that job. And I definitely agree about Yossi, should not be dropped (don't think he will), I was just looking for a winger to accomodate my 4-4-2. One thing is for certain though, none of us will come close to guessing Harry's selection.
As much as I think Carroll has stepped up lately, Norway, I think our strongest team would feature Henry and Barton in the middle. People seem to forget Barton's earlier form. He's a good player and has lots of experience. Anyway, I wouldn't complain if Carroll took his place, as long as Henry or O'Neill is behind him.
I would play Yossi in my side instead of O'neill, but like I said, I presume he's still injured after going off against Leicester. If he's fit, I'd definitely start him.
Unfortunately I suspect he is mate!! He's taking forever in the shower now, hence why I'm still on here!!
I'd play you in the side ahead of O'Neil. I don't rate benayoun but he has picked it up recently so I'd agree he should start if fit but then Redknapp has a history of dropping players who do well.
I'm not against Henry and Barton in the middle and that would probably be my first choice central pairing, once all our wide players are fit.
