Rangers, of course, slumped to a 4-0 loss at Manchester United, whilst the Potters succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Leicester City. Both sides will be keen to right the wrongs of those performances, on a day when much of the focus will be on Hughes’s return to W12, following his 11 month spell here as manager. His successor at Loftus Road, Harry Redknapp, could recall Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch to his starting XI, with both players set to undergo late fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s live televised encounter. Yun Suk-Young (foot) and Eduardo Vargas (head injury) are both expected to be available, but Adel Taarabt is sidelined with an ankle injury. Stoke, meanwhile, could include former QPR front-man and lifelong Rangers fan Peter Crouch in their side, but fellow striker Jonathan Walters is a doubt. The Republic of Ireland international hasn’t trained in the build-up to the game having suffered a knock in last weekend’s defeat to Leicester, while Deadline Day acquisition Oussama Assaidi is pressing for a first start having enjoyed a full week’s training. Charlie Adam is certain to be in Hughes’s thoughts ahead of kick-off, as is the fit-again Stephen Ireland, following his return from a recent rib injury. They lost against Leicester last weekend, but we know what they can do following their win at Man City. “They’re strong and we’ll need to be on our game – giving it our best.” Stoke boss, Mark Hughes (on his time at Loftus Road): "It was a difficult time for me at QPR. We were all trying to pull in the same direction. None of us wanted to hurt the club. "It was frustrating, and I will be honest and say that the record in the second season wasn't anywhere good enough. "We all wanted to improve and move forward, but unfortunately we weren't able to do that in the manner I would have liked. "I’ve had a lot of stick from people in the game. QPR fans may want to vent their frustrations at me and I’ll take it on my shoulders." Going to be a gritty, tough one today. Hughes is going to have them riled up. Hopefully we can show our class today. Last week was against a team which are ridiculous on paper! Cannot see images either even after logging out and back in.
If we go down as abjectly as last week we really do face another long hard season, it'll be interesting to see what way we set up today, I fear we could be picked off on the counter as they did that sort of job on Man City...
I do not think that will happen. At home. Not playing a £300m pound team. 12th man. Harry knows how much we want this. It will certainly be feisty.
So many moons ago.... I share a Ladies toilet with the Stoke Celebrity fan. When he had Fanny the Wonder dog...so in fact I hared a toilet with Julian and Fanny It was a pub in West Willesden, cannot remember the name now, they were doing a comedy store like event....Julian Clary was a minor headliner and we went along just to see him (he was vicious on hecklers and really funny). But at the half-time break, as you do I went to the loo(I had slightly noticed the cut-out gold star that had appeared over the word...ladies, but ignored it) ...and who was in there dressing for the second half but Julian Clary and Fanny.....I was desperate and told him so, begrudgingly he allowed me to use the toilet....and I could hear him throwing other ladies out of the toilet, telling them that it was the Stars dressing room, and they could go elsewhere. I came out and thanked him. He was really nice to me and we had a very long chat. He berated the lack of a dressing room....he claimed for Fanny the Wonder Dog....but I have to say in a camp sort, effected way...he was really lovely. He said he would look out for me in second half (but as I said he was very cruel with hecklers) I hid at the back....however he did tell the story about a mad woman who broke in into his dressing room, demanding the toilet....in the second half....and it raised a hell of a laugh...I was bright red at the back, trying to hide from Ron my hubbie, who was shouting ...its her, its her. Anyway bottom line ...I really like Julian Cleary
With the benefit of several replays, crouch used rio's shoulders to get the extra height. As is he doesn't have enough already
