If this was a possible fixture, what would be your predictions? I would go:

Home - Scrappy 2 - 1 victory. Very poor first half and we're 1 nil down. HR introduces a 2nd striker and we go on to sneak it.
Away - 2 - 0 defeat. We try to keep it tight at the back but leak a goal from a corner. Rio then loses his man for the 2nd.

As they have postmen, accountants and policemen playing and we only have QPR professional footballers I reckon we'd lose

We'd field eleven authors and be managed by a tax accountant with a load of columnists waiting in the wings.

I think we could beat England, they look crap.

England have finally managed to score against this lot. I wonder if their keeper will be able to maintain his 4.4 goals per match average. Took us 25 min to get our first.

Part-timers: day jobs of the San Marino team

Aldo Simoncini (goalkeeper) age 28: accountant
Mirko Palazzi (defender) 27: professional at Italian fourth division club Rimini
Alessandro Della Valle (defender) 32: works in a ceramics shop
Fabio Vitaioli (defender) 30: works in a clothes shop
Lorenzo Buscarini (defender) 23: student
Alex Gasperoni (midfielder) 30: runs a lighting business
Matteo Vitaioli (midfielder) 24: factory worker
Michele Cervellini (midfielder) 26: lawyer
Luca Tosi (midfielder) 23: office clerk
Andy Selva (striker) 38: youth football coach
Danilo Rinaldi (striker) 26: works for a furniture shop

Nowhere is the gulf between San Marino and their opponents more apparent than in the wages they receive. Manzaroli estimates most of San Marino's players receive no more than 300 euros (£235) a month from their club sides - as much as Wayne Rooney earns every eight minutes at Manchester United.

Simoncini concedes an average of 4.4 goals per game for his country

No easy games in international football?

As well as a 13-0 defeat by Germany, San Marino have lost 11-0 to the Netherlands, 10-0 to Norway and Poland, 10-1 to Belgium, and 9-0 to both Ukraine and Spain. They have lost 8-0 on six occasions, including to England, and conceded seven goals on 10 occasions.

Rooney penalty (scored), pitched a £300,000 per week man against a £235 per month accountant.

"as much as Wayne Rooney earns every eight minutes at Manchester United."

Lol, I was listening to our Glenn Hoddle giving his expert analysis at half time on ITV. Well Glenn if your such an expert and know what to change then why can't you do something with our team?

I upset my wife and daughter by screaming abuse at him as soon as I saw his stupid perma tanned face. Not really, they both swear like dockers, especially the 14 year old daughter.

A lot better
Ruthless since the break
Kill the pub team

Is it written into some kind of Human Rights Treaty that this lot are allowed to enter international competitions? England I mean.

4-0 (Townsend) - one more goal and their keeper maintains his 4.4 goals/game average.

5-0 now (Rooney or og)

Lithuania, who are currently 1-0 up against Estonia, only managed to beat them 2-0

What a strong group we are in!

We'd have to postpone the game until all all books are printed, book tours and media love-ins were completed.

5-0 FT - San Marino's 60th consecutive defeat (don't they do draws?) and their very good keeper maintained his goals against average.

No excuses at this England match
As usual you already know where the ball is going
Dreadful simply dreadful football
Only way they will score if England get a spot kick

Oh they just have

How did that side you reckon are better than England (Switzerland) get on tonight?

It may be 5 - 0 but England really are poor.

You can't judge a team against that kind of opposition. All SM wanted to do was sit in front of their 18 yard line with 11 men behind the ball. England scored 5, had one ruled out incorrectly for offside and made enough chances to have scored 7 or 8.

Meanwhile, the most over-rated side in International football, Switzerland have lost 1-0 to the mighty Slovenia!!
3 points. Move on!
