Newcastle shambles helps QPR finish with a win - report Monday, 18th May 2015 00:18 by Clive Whittingham QPR have often finished seasons with a home match against Newcastle in recent times, and on Saturday at Loftus Road the Toon Army made perfect guests for the wake. Not only because they’re one of the few Premier League teams Rangers stand a chance of beating, nor that the shambolic state they arrived in and the despicable second half performance they produced reassured the Loftus Road faithful that there are others out there in varying degrees of mess, but because they actually add a silver lining to the cloud of dropping a division and leaving this stinking cesspool behind. Newcastle United, a famous old institution, a community asset, reduced to an advertising vehicle for cheap trainers and pay-day loans, will finish either fourth bottom or third bottom of the Premier League this season and for that they’ll be given the thick end of £70m. That’s £70m for a team that has lost nine of its last ten games, won only three of its last 21, won none of its first seven… thanks for your contribution, here’s £70m. Are we really that disappointed to be leaving this gross divison of excess behind? Read the rest here ... http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/38673/?
Thanks for posting 999's. That is a very accurate report of the game and a really good read. If you read this Clive, some of us really enjoy your match reports. Cheers.
Really valuable reads for those that cannot make games. The bit about Ferdinand's intervention at half-time does not bode well for Ramsey.
Yes as Kerry says....really enjoyed it as I wasn't there..like the bit about playing the goal music after a miss...typical QPR. Does sound as though Sir Les is running the show now....so I think that guarantees CRs tenure...
The bit about Barton getting an unnecessary yellow didn't look that way from the slow motion replay showed here A 50/50 ball in which the Newcastle player wakked Barton in the shins. Looked a clear free kick for us a possibly a yellow for their player. Definitely not a free kick against let alone a yellow for Barton. Looked like the Ref didn't see it but just did what his colleagues do as regularly as blowing their whistle, see Barton involved in a tackle and give him a yellow regardless.
Whilst this was an amusing, accurate account of the game, it was also just about the worst written report I can remember from Clive.
I think next season Swords has to write a report Great to know that no one knows even what team we will have This chapter is over Looking forward to fresh football and maybe better CW reports He may have to change his style because he is infected as we all are
"Tony Fernandes the guy who saw a lot of Roadrunner cartoons and thought it made him an explosives expert." Brilliant
Particularly enjoyed the article mentioning Grego-Cox's contribution. Certainly noticed his ability in the air for his size, and he's no a slouch in the pace department either. Should Ramsey be retained as Manager, he can prove his coaching credentials by turning this lad in to a genuine threat up front for us. Wouldn't it be fantastic if Austin's replacement was from our own academy?
