    Match Preview

QPR play host to Manchester United at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon, as the R’s look to kick-start their New Year following a disappointing opening to 2015.

Harry Redknapp’s side need Premier League points – and quickly – with last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley seeing them drop into the bottom three.

That result extended the R’s losing streak on the road to 10 matches, yet the Hoops’ home form is impressive, with 19 points from 11 fixtures in front of the Rangers faithful so far this term.

The R’s league position itself might not make for pretty reading as things stand, but with just three points separating 12th-19th, there’s a number of clubs embroiled in the scrap for survival in the top-flight.

At the other end of the division, United – under the guidance of Dutch boss Louis Van Gaal – are fighting for Champions League football once again, having missed out last season for the first time in 19 years.

After an inauspicious start to the season, the Red Devils have improved as the season’s evolved, with Sunday’s defeat to Southampton at Old Trafford ending their recent 11 match unbeaten run in all competitions.

That loss means United head into the weekend in fourth place and few would bet against them stabilising their position in the top four between now and the end of the season, especially with the fit-again Angel Di Maria back in their ranks.

QPR could recall Niko Kranjcar on Saturday following a recent minor injury, whilst Adel Taarabt is likely to feature once again following his return to the fray last weekend at Burnley.

Robin van Persie is a doubt for van Gaal’s side, with the Dutchman limping out of Sunday’s defeat to Saints owing to an ankle injury.

Not at all, I think that he is rubbish and will be phased by our 12th man and Clint's attention.

Clint will need to give him a good dig early doors. And then advise him to take all the corners.

Who would you have in your starting Xl Jimbo? There's not many other options. Taarabt for Zamora maybe but I don't think it's the forwards that we need to concern ourselves about.

Maybe it's my Canadian bias, but a big role is for Junior Hoilett coming off the bench. He attacks players and Man U doesn't respond well to that. I like the suggested starting 11, but would make sure at some point we got Hoilett into the game. He's not great at crossing and continues to underperform, but he is always close to greatness and disturbs defences, which is where Man U's biggest weakness is.

    Something like this then . . . . . .

That's an option but I doubt Harry will drop Barton for Mutch. I'm not too sure of his tracking back either. If this side was to start I think that Caulker and Henry would need to shift across to help Hill put the fires out. Isla would have to tuck in and Vargas would need to drop into the R/B slot.
