It will be the first Premier League meeting between the two sides with their most recent competitive encounter coming back in 2011 in the Championship. Harry Redknapp has adopted a new tactical approach for the 2014/15 campaign by deploying the fashionable 3-5-2 system. In theory, it should make QPR a more attacking outfit by being able to control possession through overloading the midfield, whilst also boasting two strikers to occupy the opposition defence and pose a goal threat. Only time will tell if this formation will be successful but on paper it seems suitable for the squad. Hull have bought well in the window, acquiring the likes of Tom Ince and Robert Snodgrass but the departure of Shane Long has left Steve Bruce`s side a tad short ahead of this weekend`s game. Should their participation in the Europe League continue past the qualifying stages, they could struggle to rotate their squad as they compete in various competitions this term. In recent years, Newcastle and Swansea have fallen victim to this but avoided relegation. This summer, the R`s have recruited sensibly and new signings Steven Caulker, Jordan Mutch and Rio Ferdinand could all start tomorrow. Redknapp has made it clear that he hopes to keep Loic Remy and if he does stay it will be a tremendous boost. Remy guarantees goals in this division and the mouth-watering partnership with Charlie Austin could be one that guides the club to safety and beyond. In conclusion, tomorrow will be a very tough clash because Hull have already played competitive games and might be that bit sharper than QPR. Previous season openers in the PL haven`t been too kind to the R`s with hammerings at the hands of Bolton and Swansea still fresh in the mind. Therefore, a draw wouldn`t be a disaster but in this league QPR will need to pick up three points at home sooner rather than later. QPR Team News: Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker could make their debuts in a new-look QPR defence. Summer signing Jordan Mutch will be pushing for a place while Loic Remy is fit to feature. Hull Team News: Yannick Sagbo is suspended but summer additions Robert Snodgrass and Tom Ince are expected to play. Agreed UTRs. A committed man, our 9s. 2am doing his match day thread, huh? He's committed, or mad and should be committed ( to the madhouse!)
Cheers nines, great preview. I can see Dunne getting the nod over Onouha but otherwise I have high hopes for that line-up. Just hope the strong on paper team translates to a great performance on the pitch for a change
Apparently, we're in for a boring game: http://www.kickoff.co.uk/23308/5-reasons-why-qpr-v-hull-will-not-live-long-in-the-memory/?
Come on you R's. Is the stadium already full and rocking and rolling then? If I'm counting back the hours right it's only an hour and 6 minutes to PL kick off!
