please log in to view this image The return of the hotly anticipated Barclays premier league is here after a summer feast of world cup action, players having come and gone, most notably shane long of hull city just a couple of days before this match. Newly promoted Queens park rangers under the guidance of Harry Redknapp after a dramatic last minute championship play off final victory over derby county at wembley courtesy of bobby zamora, QPR are back in the big time after just a one year absence, while hull city had the best season in their history, reaching an historic FA cup final, finishing in their highest ever league standing and reaching european football for the first time, one thing is for sure, hull city lost more than one virginity in the last 12 months. The smell of that freshly mown grass, the smell of the burgers wandering up the noses of excited fans, it's the opening day of the season VENUE - loftus road please log in to view this image The last time these two teams met was april 2011 at loftus road when QPR gained promotion to the premier league, the match finished 1-1, coincidently hull city haven't won at loftus road since 1963/64 season. but under steve bruce, it's not an unusual event for hull city to break a duck of their back and this is hull city's fourth season in the top flight of english football Harry redknapp - on hull city "Hull are an example of how you should do it when you get promoted," "It is good to start with a home match but it will be a tough game. "I was impressed with Hull last season. Steve Bruce has bought well, they were buys of a man who knew what he was doing – no-brainer deals." Team news - QPR could field new centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker, while Mauricio Isla and Jordon Mutch are also in line to make their QPR debuts along with the available loric remy while taarabt is not up for selection Hull city should have a fully fit squad minus yannick sagbo due to suspension
Exactly bob. Its about timing and this isnt the right time. Plus it looks like it should be on the Qpr board doesnt it. You've peaked too early brady, again!! Poor show.
it's a fact my match threads are like that of jane austin, while your threads just lack that special thing, i had the trencin away thread, you had the home thread, it's a cycle and the fact i've put a picture of loftus round does not warrant it being on the qpr board, it's where we are playing
Dunno why but it doesn't feel like the start of the season. Maybe it's cos I'm not going along with the fact I'm more bothered about the EL and haven't really looked forward to this date all summer like normal.
i agree, the europe league is 100x more exciting than the premier league, we have no hope of finishing in the top4 or the top 6, it's just a fight not to go down, saying that i'll be buzzing tomorrow, but while we are in the europe league, i ****ing love it
that's all well and good, but wouldn't you like to repeat the EL next year? If so, we need to concentrate on the league, cos I am not sure if we can get to another FA cup final as we aren't the only team that has strengthened.
we ain't gona finish in the top 6... like i said.. i will be buzzing tomorroow. but the EL is so much better. this is once in a life time.. we will stay up this season
Qpr fan here in peace boys, Im looking forward to this match as i think a lot off fans have underated you this season. i like some of your team and you'll provide us with a good test. obviously i have us down for a win but only due to home advantage. good luck boys (and girls) and good luck for the season...except today of course. 2-Nil Rangers for me
You lads ever want a Match day banner doing just give me a PM, they're dead easy and I enjoy doing them. Not today though. too late.
I'm always in a quandary at this time of the season: play cricket or go to the match. This week it was decided for me as we were struggling to get an XI out with so many of the team being on holiday. Just watch it bloody rain now. For those of you going today, have a good one! I think it will be a tight game, no more than one goal either way but I am going for a draw. This make 3 seasons out of 4 in the PL that the first game has been away in London. The other time we had a London team at home. Anyone notice the trend here?
I don't think I ever have done, but I wouldn't condemn someone if they did. Betting should be a cold business with no room for emotion.
I know a couple of people who always do. They see it as a win win situation, if City win then they don't care about the bet and if they don't they have some extra cash to cheer them up
