QPR play host to Blackpool this weekend, aiming to register a third win in seven days.

Buoyed by clinching back-to-back victories against Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic earlier this week, Harry Redknapp’s side head into the clash versus the Seasiders knowing another win will go a long way to cementing their place in the top-six.

Visitors Blackpool, meanwhile, are embroiled in a scrap of an altogether different kind towards the foot of the table.

Despite topping the table in the opening weeks of the season thanks in part to a six-match unbeaten start, the Seasiders are now fighting for their Championship lives, with just two wins from their previous 21 second tier fixtures.

Barry Ferguson, who replaced Paul Ince in mid-January, is the man tasked with staving off the threat of demotion to League One in his first job in management.

With nine games to go, the Seasiders are nine points clear of the dreaded bottom three, but they’ll be buoyed by the signing of Everton striker Apostolos Vellios, who joined on loan for the remainder of the season yesterday.

The Greece under 21 international is in line to make his debut against the R’s, and follows former Norwich striker Robert Earnshaw to Bloomfield Road on a deal until the end of the campaign.

The injuries continue to pile up for Rangers, with Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar both ruled out for the visit of the Seasiders, while Kevin Doyle is expected to be out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

    Hannah Ferguson

R's gaffer, Harry Redknapp: "Blackpool will be dangerous opposition.

"We mustn't underestimate them - it will be a very tough game.

"There are no easy games in this division as last weekend's results proved."

Seasiders boss, Barry Ferguson: "We'll go there with a game plan which will be different from the way I wanted the team to play at Bolton because Bolton is a big, wide open pitch.

"We'll try and do something different and hopefully come out with three points.

"They're a quality team, I'm not going to lie. We'll go and we'll try and get three points."

    Facts & Stats

    Opposition profile..................

Free fall halted but problems still mounting for Pool -

Friday, 28th Mar 2014 23:41 by Clive Whittingham

Two recent wins have ended a run of 18 matches without success for Blackpool and moved them away from the relegation zone - but the future looks bleak if this team isn't strengthened significantly this summer.

    Overview
In 1995/96 Millwall led the First Division for the first half of the campaign, losing only three of their first 20 games, before manager Mick McCarthy was lured away to be the Republic of Ireland boss. They appointed Raith Rovers’ boss Jimmy Nicholl to replace him, won only four of their final 32 games, and were relegated.

Not since that remarkable occurrence have we seen a freefall quite as spectacular as Blackpool’s 2013/14 campaign. The Tangerines were a Premier League team as recently as 2010/11 and with Paul Ince at the helm persuading his talented son Thomas to stick with them last summer, and the majority of the television money picked up during that campaign in the top flight still stowed away by ever thrifty chairman Karl Oyston, they may have been a reasonable outside bet for promotion this year. Indeed, they drew one and won five of their first seven matches to set the early pace.

That's all well and good, but what about Yun Suk-Young starting on the left?

That's all well and good but I'd have Hannah on the left with Louise on the right and I'd play in the hole.

Goodnight, I have a match to attend tomorrow

What a shambles our Jan striker signings have been. Doyle back at Wolves, Dellatorre consigned to the reserves and Miaga is just plain ****.

I do wonder sometimes just what player strategy Arry Beard & Swiss Tony are following

Sorry mate, but I really hope you're way off with your team selection!

    I wouldn't play Dunne
I'd play Hill and Ned at CB
    I'd play Yun at LB
I'd play Carroll and Henry in the centre
I'd stick O'neill one side of Morrison with Hoilett the other

I agree with that but I'd play BZ up front instead of Keane. I'm no big fan of O'Neil either and would prefer to see Hughes play DCM with Henry, and Carroll in central attacking midfield with Morrison and Hoillet each side, with O,Neil on the Bench.

I'm going for 442 with BAE at LW but i think Redknapp picks his team and formation out of a hat.

A 532 to 352 also works with that lineup.

    This could work though.

    ------------------Green-----------------

    ------Onuoha-----Dunne------Hill--------

    Hughes------------------------------BAE

    ------------Henry-------Carroll----------

    ------------------Morrison--------------

    ------------Keane-----Zamora----------

Think I have to change my prediction, can't see us winning 3-0 with this lineup.
