    QPR to keep want-away pair

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is preparing to hold talks with Loic Remy and Adel Taarabt, according to the Daily Mirror.

The pair spent last season out on loan following the club’s relegation but with neither player able to secure a permanent move, Redknapp hopes to convince them to stay at the club this season.

The R’s manager wants the talks to happen soon as the club wants to work out their transfer plans for the remainder of the window. Mauricio Isla has joined on loan from Juventus and Cardiff City have agreed to sell Jordon Mutch for a fee in the region of £6 million.

    Taarabt
Upon joining Milan in January Taarabt declared himself to be the ‘(Mario) Balotelli of Morocco’, and he can be frustrating and exciting in equal measure like the Italy striker. Controversy is also his forte, and he has a history of storming out of the ground when substituted at half time as well as retiring then un-retiring from international duty.

The Moroccan has also declared previously that he would never play alongside resurgent midfielder Joey Barton after a disagreement about training and then the Englishman’s actions against Manchester City on the last day of the season in 2012.

    Big game player

Redknapp will be hoping that Taarabt can begin to match Balotelli’s performances on the football pitch; the 25-year-old is yet to impress in the Premier League after a disappointing spell for QPR in the 2011/12 season.

The attacking midfielder struggled when he was on loan at Fulham from the start of last season before returning to West London in January.

Taarabt had a better time in Milan as he scored four goals in 14 appearances however the Rossoneri have chosen to avoid a permanent deal for the midfielder because of his wage demands.

If he can avoid controversy and continue the form he had at Milan he could be a key player in QPR’s battle against relegation this season.

    Remy

Since his Liverpool move fell through Remy has been left without much chance of a move away from the club with Alan Pardew admitting defeat in Newcastle United’s pursuit of the Frenchman.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle and was the club’ stop scorer after netting 14 goals in 26 Premier League matches. QPR struggled for goals last season scoring just 60 times in 46 matches in the Championship.

Excluding Charlie Austin’s 19 goals last season QPR’s other two strikers managed just seven goals between them all season, and with 11 first team players over the age of 30, Taarabt and Remy will provide some much needed athleticism and goals that will be vital if the side are to survive

Saw Harry speaking to Adel one on one away from the Group at Carton House training. No smiles, no arm around the shoulder stuff. I got no warm and fuzzy feeling watching it.

Adel seemed a little detached from the rest of the squad apart from SWP perhaps (probably not a good sign). Was competitive during the training match and stood out as the one that was prepared to try something different.

I love Adel but time to get rid. Bring someone else in who cares and get another striker and the squad will really start to shape up. Keeping Remy and getting his mind right will be massive for us.

You have read my thoughts exactly.

It would be great to have a motivated and performing Adel, but I really cannot see it. Should he stay I can see a negative impact on the rest of the team.

Anyway, let's see how both these saga's evolve.

The problem is that they need to make a decision fairly sharpish, especially in the case of Remy. If it turns out that he still wants to go then he will need to be replaced, and time is running out.

Fully agree. Time is not to our benefit here.

I have a feeling we will keep Remy - even if only until the January transfer window. Perhaps the "feeling" is just hope?

Lots of "what ifs" there. That though is the whole problem with Adel, he will be brilliant in one game then go AWOL in the next half dozen. That is no use to us in the PL, there is no room for passengers.
