I was thinking you'd opt for something like this

I think you should stick to the 4-2-3-1 shape, regardless of personnel, Spurs don't like playing against this formation, and there is still plenty of attacking intent on show <ok>

Barton shouldn't play on the right, swap Cisse with Taarabt and even then i'd prefer Cisse up front

I think its matter not about formation more like each player will have a task first when when we dont have the ball ie: Stop Modric playing and Bale running with the ball. When we have it it has to go long to BZ and we pray Kaboul is out

That sounds just like a Neil Warnock team talk!!
Formation WILL be important to stop them playing.

DL....I like your formation, but Barton can't play on the right. I'd play this:

    -------------------Kenny------------------
    Onouha----Ferdinand----Hill------Taiwo
    ------------Barton-----Diakite-----------
    Mackie---------Taarabt-----------Cisse
    ---------------Zamora------------------

But MH might play 2 up front with Zamora and Cisse. Could get over-run in midfield if he does!!

I'd say when in possession go with

    -------------------Kenny------------------
    Onouha----Ferdinand----Hill------Taiwo
    ------------Barton-----Diakite-----------
    Mackie---------------------------Taarabt
    ---------Cisse-------------------
    ---------------------Zamora---------------

which can be quickly reverted to

    -------------------Kenny------------------
    Onouha----Ferdinand----Hill------Taiwo
    ------------Barton-----Diakite-----------
    Mackie-----------Cisse-----------Taarabt
    ---------------Zamora------------------

when lose possession. Cisse has to be in middle to make most of the scoring opportunities Taarabt/Barton/Diakite puts forward, or BZ creates from keeping ball up and passing backwards. Just my humble input, sure there are many wiser men than me to decide on the formation issue :emoticon-0138-think

    I'd play this team.

    --------------------------------------------KENNY-----------------------------------

    ONOUHA-------------FERDINAND-------------------HILL--------------------TAIWO

    ------------------------------BARTON------------DIAKITE---------------------------

    TAARABT-----------------------------------------------------------------TRAORE

    -------------------------------CISSE-------------------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------------ZAMORA--------------------------------

Traore for Mackie could be a good idea Nines - my problem with that is that the one time I saw Traore play on the left in front of Taiwo they seemed to impede each other all the time! Possibly they got it sorted now?

Any chance of HH making the bench this week? Would like to see Zamora run himself into the ground for 60 minutes, then the Iceman take up the challenge. Need some pace in midfield, so Traore would be good, both to keep on top of them and because I don't think their CBs like being run at - as the Gooners showed. Concern is how we deal with Van der Vaart in the hole.

why not go the wigan way and go 3-4-3 and go at spurs from the off, spurs are like arsenal if you cramp the midfield they don't function

4-2-3-1 cramps their midfield without changing to a 3-4-3 formation that the players aren't used to.
Finn....the fluidity you refer to starting from 4-2-3-1 is exactly how it should be played mate!
