QPR supremo vows not to repeat mistakes of last year Friday, June 8, 2012 8:07 AM QPR chief executive Phil Beard has vowed not to make the same mistakes as the club did last summer. The Râs made some late deals, splashing the cash, but it didnât work and after sacking manager Neil Warnock in January, Mark Hughes made signings of his own but the chief vowed this summer would be different. âI joined the club as part of the takeover and we had 10 days left of the transfer window,â Beard said. âWe worked very quickly and very hard, but if we had slightly more time to plan and prepare we might have approached that differently. âThis season we are under no illusions - we have the time we didnât have last year. âWe need to make sure over the next six to eight weeks we work really hard with Mark and his team, and make sure any changes are really thought through and strengthen the squad in the way we need to so we can kick on and hopefully not be in the same position as last year.â
