QPR striker relishes competition for places Friday, July 20, 2012 7:51 AM .. Jay Bothroyd is determined to challenge for a place in QPRâs starting line-up this season, and is looking forward to competing with new signing Andy Johnson. As well as former Fulham man Johnson, Bothroyd, who scored in the Râs first match of pre-season against a Sabah Select XI in Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday, will battle it out with Bobby Zamora and Heider Helguson for a place in the team. âItâs definitely a big challenge,â the striker told QPRâs official website. âBut itâs all good for the squad. When youâre signing players like that (Johnson), all you can do is raise your game, keep working hard and stay positive. âLast season was a difficult one for me,â he added. âBut Iâm looking to work hard and get more opportunities this year.â
Does this mean his going to injure the other strikers in training. Lets face it, it's the only way he is getting into the starting line up.
