QPR stars 'playing for their futures' as Hughes ready to wield the axe

    By SAMI MOKBEL

    Mark Hughes: tough task master
Mark Hughes has begun to plan a mass summer clear-out at Queens Park Rangers.
But, as the disciplinarian boss continues to stamp his mark on the relegation-threatened club, a clutch of players remain surprised by Hughes' methods.
A source told Sportsmail: 'The players know they are playing for their futures.
'The manager is analysing each and every player very carefully at the moment and the squad know that. It will certainly be a very interesting few weeks leading into the summer.'
Saturday's west London clash at home to Fulham will be the first time Hughes' side have played since their winter training camp in Portugal.
But spirits in the squad are not as high as they could be.
The source added: 'Certain members of the squad thought the trip would be more of a team-bonding exercise. But it didn't work out that way.
'Hughes' methods have certainly been a bit of a culture shock to some of the players.'

That shortlist probably includes about 80% of the entire squad!Great to hear that the players haven't bonded, just the fillip we need!!

It's from a journo. He will never say, 'they came back united with a wonderful sense of camaraderie'! Probably means somebody said, 'Oi, that's my deoderant'!

The usual spoiler-type story. Probably one or two (we know who they are) were told a few home truths about their performances to date but it's up to them to improve. I'm sure they'll be playing for their futures starting today...

As soon as one sees the words "sources" and "Daily Mail" in the same piece, then alarm bells should start ringing.

"Team bonding" and "hard training" are not mutually exclusive. Bonding on the pitch is just as important as bonding off it.

The article appears to say that some thought they were going off on a Cornish style, pre-season jolly. Maybe they did - maybe they didn't. The work they did on the training ground was as important as the bonding off it.

Mokbel manages to extrapolate from that statement that "spirits in the squad are not as high as they could be." That statement was HIS interpretation and not attributed to a source. But that is Mokbel. He is a negative writer.

Anyone can spin anything that happens or is said to suit themselves. Women are great at that. I therefore extrapolate that Sami Mokbel is a woman. You read it here first.

Translated, certain slackers thought it would be a golfing holiiday and piss up and were annoyed they had to work, good riddance.

It was noticeable that during the Portugal trip all the rangers players who are on twitter, were all tweeting away about the hard work they were doing. But not one tweet was in any way negative, quiet the opposite.

There was quiet a bit of banter about it all, far from the suggested negative feel in the article.

I'd imagine that the whole team apart from the recently acquired players will be on a short list and if they fail to inspire then they will be off.
