QPR stars face fight for places as Warnock plans midfielder swoop - QPR - London 24 Akos Buzsaky QPR stars face fight for places as Warnock plans midfielder swoop Ian Cooper Tuesday, November 22, 2011 12:02 PM Rangers boss insists Buzsaky and Smith both have a future at the club Neil Warnock insists that forgotten QPR man Akos Buzsaky has a future at the club â despite his plans to sign another midfielder in January. Buzsaky played 19 times in Rangersâ Championship-winning side last season, but has not featured in the current campaign since the 2-0 defeat to Wigan in August. The Hungary international has dismissed suggestions that he requires an operation for a troublesome cyst on his knee, and Warnock confirmed that he is fit and available for selection. However, with new signings set to arrive in January, Buzsaky and other fringe players including Tommy Smith are set to find their chances limited in the new year. âWe did hear something in the media that Akos needed an operation, but thatâs news to us, heâs gone home this week because of an illness in the family, but heâll be back Thursday and available,â Warnock told the Times. âThere will be number of signings in January, weâve got four subs at the minute, weâre having a nightmare and weâll have to sign four or five players in January. âThereâll be a midfielder, a couple of defenders and a couple of forwards. Weâll be trying to get big-name players, but weâve got to make sure we get four or five good players, we canât be left short like we were on Saturday at Stoke.â Warnock also maintained that Smith, who has been restricted to a string of substitute appearances in recent weeks, is still part of his plans. âTommy Smith has done really well, heâs one of the fit ones thank goodness, I feel sorry for Tommy because he hasnât had the chance to come in and do well. Heâs being patient, heâd like to be playing. Thereâs still a place for him. Heâs fit and available for selection.â The QPR boss also insisted he is not concerned with the sideâs lack of goals from midfield. Joey Barton and Alejandro Faurlin have each netted once this season, but Shaun Wright-Phillips and Adel Taarabt are both yet to score. âAs long as goals are coming Iâm not bothered where they come from,â added Warnock. âWeâre creating chances all over the show at the moment and the movement from midfield has been super, so Iâve been quite pleased with how itâs going. âGuys like Shaun Wright-Phillips have never been prolific goalscorers, I think heâll chip in with a few but at the moment he just needs a little bit of luck, he hit the post on Saturday. Heâll come good when we need him. And Warnock confirmed that Taarabt, who was a week late returning from international duty having lost his passport, must fight to regain his place in the team. âIâm not going to change it while itâs going well, he needs to be patient and wait for his time.â Follow me on Twitter @QPRTimes iReader
Four or five players in Jan? Looks like fat Thony is loosening the purse strings again. Buz is long finished but Tommy Smith is a good player to have in the squad. He'll have a real go when he gets his chance like he did at Everton.
Ahhhh Adel, if only he could sort his fricking head out. Can you imagine 4-5 new players and an in form Adel??? With the way we're playing at the moment, if he could find form we could become a very nasty prospect for most teams. Alas I think Warnock's had his fill and has more important things to worry about than reading Adel a bedtime story.
2 defenders onuha(spell it wrong) bassong, 1 midfield now thats interesting who would love hoilet, 2 strikers well defoe & amourie, sorted
If we are spending 10m on Defoe unless we are getting 10/15 m for Adel then 5 new players is a bit optimistic.
