The Rs added to their victories at Everton and Wolves with a 3-2 triumph which lifted them to ninth in the Premier League table â and an encouraging six points above the relegation zone. Mackie is expecting the game against Paul Lambertâs side to be equally as difficult as their narrow triumph at the Britannia Stadium, but he believes it is vital that QPR build momentum as they head towards the often season-defining Christmas period. And the Rangers forward says his side need only look at Blackpool â who sat in the top half of the table at the end of November, only to fall away spectacularly in the second half of last season and eventually suffer relegation â for a cautionary tale. âWeâre under no illusions as to how hard itâs going to be.Itâll be every bit as difficult as the game at Stoke,â Mackie told London24.com. âTheyâve done well at home, they play at a really high tempo and we need to make sure our mentality is right. âWeâve got games against the teams around us now, and these are the really important ones where we have to go and get a result. Itâs a different game to Stoke, but the confidence is high so we need to take that into the game. âWe need to use our start to the season as a foundation to keep going because while youâre doing well in the Premier League you need to get points on the board. âWe saw it last year with Blackpool when they faded away towards the end. I didn't see us getting tonked 6-0 by a distinctly average Fulham side. We have been Jeckyll and Hyde for much of the season but I'm hoping that the resurgence of the likes of Mackie will deliver the enthuisiasm and team spirit to show our positive side more often.
Have to say I do like Mackie - although not the most gifted more that makes up for with graft & attitude + talking sensibly also.
......some of whom won't be playing this Saturday. But I agree with you, I feel we won't lose this one.
Blackpool didn't get a chance to invest in better players in Jan. That will be the difference. They had a rubbish team and were clearly punching above their weight all season. We're playing like we should be, with the personnel we have. Wish everybody would stop comparing.
