QPR have pulled off a transfer surprise by landing Djibril Cisse from Lazio, according to reports in Italy.
The striker is set to move to Loftus Road for around £4m as Mark Hughes continues his frantic spending spree in the final hours of the window.
Having signed Taye Taiwo on loan and Nedum Onuoha on a permanent deal, Hughes has now addressed the need for more firepower up front with the acquisition of Cisse.
The 30-year-old former Liverpool striker only moved to Lazio last summer but he scored just once in 17 league games during his time at the Serie A giants.

    Yeah, make's Bothroyd's 2 in 16 look prolific.

Seriously though, I think he'll be good for us.

He's better than Mackie/Hulse/Macheda/Bothroyd/Smith et al. Apparently he is still quick and that alone will be quite an asset. I could see Adel releasing him clear on a regular basis.

I think he's just about as good as we could have realistically expected!

absolutely Col , we need to remember who we are sometimes , this is a big name signing for us and could score the goals to keep us up.

I am optimistic about this after reading Sunderlands fans thoughts on him yesterday. They absolutely loved him! He could be a real crowd favourite at Loftus Road and score the vital goals we need to keep us up!

Cisse will be great for us if he works hard I think. But the chances that we created before seem to be drying up to me. Hope Adel and Traore get back soon and can change that!

I read that too, but somehow it reminded me just a little of what Newcastle fans were saying about Joey just after we signed him; then the tone of their appraisals of him, not to mention the content, began to change a little, and in no time at all they were telling us that they couldn't wait to get rid of him and that they were playing so much better with great team spirit and they wouldn't have him near the place ever again.
But that won't happen with Cisse, I'm sure of it ( for now!)
