SHAH ALAM: Queens Park Rangers repeated their five-star display to thrash Kelantan 5-0 in an exhibition match at the Shah Alam Stadium last night.

The Hoops, who also fired five past the Sabah Selection in Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday, were in ruthless mood against the Super League champions with Shawn Wright Phillips (17th), Michael Harriman (53rd), Jamie Mackie (73rd) and Bobby Zamora (83rd, 90th) on target in the rout.

The Red Warriors, who were without their injured talis*manic goal*keeper Khai*rul Fahmi Che Mat, were simply overpowered by the physically superior English Premier League outfit.

Kelantan, however, had a great chance to take the lead in the seventh minute but lanky striker Indra Putra Mahyuddin failed to direct his header into goal.

Kelantan coach Bojan Hodak even brought on five of his foreign players in the second-half but the east coast giants still failed to find a breakthrough against the solid QPR side.

QPR coach Mark Hughes said his side played well although they are in the early part of their pre-season preparations.

“It’s important to play well at this stage and I’m glad we won this comfortably,” said the Welshman.

“The match was not too intense and it was perfect for our early preparations. We also had a good reception here and I hope we can return in the future.”

Meanwhile, Hodak downplayed the importance of the match, claiming it was a ‘reward’ for his players.

“The match was a good test for us, and it gave us an idea which player can play at the higher level,” said Hodak.
