It is understood that boss Harry Redknapp travelled to the DW Stadium to watch Wigan’s Championship clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday in order to watch the 23-year-old in the flesh. Wigan lost 1-0, with McManaman substituted after an hour, but the winger was still the best Latics player on show and his performance is understood to have been enough for Redknapp to give the green-light to QPR making an offer. The west Londoners are hoping that West Brom fail in their attempt to lure the 23-year-old to the Hawthorns over the next 24 hours before making what will be their final move for the player. Leicester City and Hull City are also believed to be monitoring the chase for McManaman, who rose to prominence during Wigan's remarkable FA Cup run in 2013, and their interest could yet spark a bidding war. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2015/01/25/8277782/-
Not sure how talented the guy is but he is certainly a battler. A stronger more aggressive version of Jamie Mackie? If so, it would be a yes from me.
A yes from me. Should have been after players like this back when we first got promoted. He, Mutch, Philips, McCarthy, Yun, Hoilett, the lad we got from liverpool.... Thats a good basis for a decent championship team of young talented players who we can add too with a similar ilk.
Do not want. The bloke is a liability on the pitch. M'bia showed me enough dangerous free kick giveaways and cards to last me a lifetime.
What would we want another winger for? Sit him on the bench while a striker or central midfielder takes his place and then give him 10 minutes here or there when he's bereft of confidence and decide he's not good enough before trying to use him as a makeweight in a future transfer? Sounds like a plan.
