QPR CEO, Lee Hoos, welcomed the return of the event, telling www.qpr.co.uk: “I’m really pleased we’ve managed to bring back the Player of the Year event to QPR after a short absence. “Ian Holloway, in particular, was very keen for us to hold an event this year following the success of previous events in his first spell in charge – so we’re all delighted we’ve firstly managed to locate a suitable, local venue and secondly one at a price point that is affordable for the QPR supporters. “I appreciate the announcement of the event is quite late on in the season, but I’m sure the fans will embrace the return of the event, which promises to be a great night for everyone connected to the club.” To book your place at the 2016/17 QPR Player of the Year awards, call the QPR Box Office now on 08444 777 007 or click HERE. I have opted for Smithies as well. Wszolek would have been my next choice I think. Based on the season, I do not believe any of the others really deserve it. Whilst the new guys have done well (Freeman & Smith) they shouldn't really feature in the list imo.
Surely it must be a landslide win for Smithies this year. Manning for young player of the year, if he had got the oppurtunity earlier and played more games he would have been in contention for both prizes imo. That pass at Reading alone is worthy of winning goal of the season for me.
No brainer really - we would've been rock bottom without Smithies when JFH was in charge, and he's maintained that form throughout the whole season, so gets my vote. The new guys are pulling their weight, but shouldn't be in contention for Player of the YEAR......
I agree with Smithies but does no one think Grant Hall deserves a shout He,s fitted and into a new tricky role very well?
What position would we be in even without Smithies' penalty saves let alone the string of foiled one on ones and fantastic saves he's made consistently throughout the campaign? A one horse race for me.
Nines, if you are serious, I could be up for this. As long as I can find a hotel nearby that will not cost the earth. Anyone else interested?
Well there's Redrum Onuoha, erm... Silver Bircham and.... erm... OK perhaps not (that idea fell at the first Furlong).
Bit of a foregone conclusion I would have thought......honourable mention to grant hall......but Smithies by a country mile......
