http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor.../qpr-players-play-off-pain-motivation-7244327 Matt Phillips will spend the next month on his own at the training ground working to be ready for pre-season. The QPR midfielder admitted he was gutted to sit out the Championship play-off final, but insists it only motivates him the more to recover from ankle ligament damage that along with a broken arm pre-season limited appearances to just 22 in all competitions, scoring three times. If there is a tiny bit of solace for the flying winger costing £5million when signed from Blackpool, he can listen to his own music in the loneliness of the training ground fitness room. He said: “I knew two weeks before the Championship play-off final that I wasn’t going to make it. It came a bit too soon. So throughout the summer I have to look after myself. “I’ve got a holiday and then the rest of the time I’ll be working so I’m ready for pre-season. I’ll be in over the summer. So whatever it takes is what I’m planning to do. "Watching the final was hard, you know; sitting on the sidelines, so I’ll use this as motivation so I’m ready. We’ve got a few who like their own music when we’re in that training room, but I can bring my own for once.” Phillips reckons Rangers will survive the first season back in the Premier League, a league where he’s played only one campaign with Blackpool before they went straight back down in 2011. “Can we stay there?” he said. “Definitely. The club have ambitions and the right people in place to make it happen.” Hope he can play a big part in are coming season, first season wasn't bad and was out injured lot.
He certainly worried defenders when he ran at them. Quite similar to Hoillett but probably better although, to be fair to Junior our goal at Wembley was as much his as Bobby's really.
If he is on his own at the training ground do you think we can persuade him to let us in for a bit of a kick-about one afternoon? Nobody needs to know.
He's a top bloke and definitely the right sort. He's always been really committed, trains incredibly hard and I'm sure will come back stronger.
Good to hear someone who wants to push for their place in the team. This us the 'right sort' we keep hearing about.
He'll be like a new signing for us when we start the season A great option going forward, he's got pace, he's direct and he causes problems. We could do with adding another speedy winger to complement Phillips and challenge Hoillet for the left wing spot
Both he and Junior cause problems when they actually take players on and create when they get crosses in. Every time I saw them this year they were both guilty (Phillips to a lesser extent) of passing inside instead of getting a cross in. When they did get a cross in they made goals. Hopefully he'll be fit a raring to go, he caused a lot of teams problems with Blackpool when they were in the Premiership - I hope he can do the same for us. If they can both avoid injuries Phillips and Hoillet could be very useful!
