QPR players mull fresh Terry handshake snub with race row pair set to meet again By Sami Mokbel Queens Park Rangers will hold a team meeting early next week before deciding whether to shake Chelsea skipper John Terry's hand. The west London rivals meet at Stamford Bridge a week on Sunday in a match that will resurrect the race row between Anton Ferdinand and Terry. The Chelsea defender faces criminal charges over allegations he racially abused Ferdinand during a Premier League clash on October 23. The court case has been adjourned until July 9. Court date: Chelsea captain John Terry (left) will stand trial this summer accused of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand (right) It is understood the Premier League will insist on the customary pre-match handshake going ahead despite the potential for embarrassment. Before the FA Cup tie between the sides on January 28, QPR's squad made the collective decision to snub Terry's hand before kick-off in support of their team-mate. But the FA noted the potentially explosive implications and scrapped the hand-shake. It is not clear whether feelings have changed since then but it is virtually certain that some members of the QPR squad would refuse Terry's hand. Rib knock: Terry (left) could be taken out of the firing line against QPR Sportsmail also understands that both clubs and the Premier League will seek to clarify whether the issue of the handshake would have any implications for Terry's court appearance. Terry is carrying a rib injury, so manager Roberto Di Matteo may decide to take his skipper out of the firing line. But the Italian seems set to be short of defensive options for the game, with Branislav Ivanovic suspended and David Luiz suffering with a hamstring problem. Maybe each player could shake him by the hand whilst smiling and laughing and giving him a friendly dig in the ribs. Did anyone see Puyol show Terry his injured hand last night? Terry grabbed it and gave it a hard squeeze. Nice bloke that JT.
how about doing what the old soldiers did when the japanese crown prince came to london they all turned their backs on him as he passed them
**** them this is no time to even think about anything apart from three points and will make my season if we take six off them
Take his hand and squeeze the **** out of it. Collapse it in on it's self. Make bone rub against bone. Let Anton have the last, break inducing go.
This Ferdinand chap is a bit of a moron. If he spent more time focusing on his game this season and less on John fu*king Terry, we might not be in this mess now.
If they have to shake Drogba's hand the poor ****ers gonna be writhing on the ground in agony before we even kick-off!!
Personaly, if they all turned thie backs on the team and got fined, I'd happily chip in for the fine.. F**K Chelsea and' F**K John terry
I doubt they're all sitting down thinking about what to do before the game during training time. It's a non-story and there's a fair chance Terry won't play. If he plays and he doesn't shake his hand then lovely, if he does I can't believe anyone would really care.
How does anyone know this is Ferdinands doing? I bet it is either Hughes or Barton. Anyway its good to stick together as a team rather than have half the team shake and half the team not do it.
Yeh your drift is dead right. But as Just In said now is not the time to have focus on anything other than winning 3 points FFS! If they have the team meeting this journalist refers to, I hope it is first item of the first meeting of the week, scheduled to last 1 minute maximum, in which MH instructs everyone to shake hands without a thought if necessary, it don't have to mean a thing, end of discussion, no more to the media on this other than the decision. Then if they need them, Chelsea can come and get their hands back after the Citey game!
Yeah, lets just force all the players to shake hands with a person they hate, that will sure get them up for the game.
