QPR players didn't follow my game plan fumes Chris Ramsey as Palace loss brings relegation closer 22:30, 15 March 2015 By Neil McLeman Hoops "knew where the problems would be. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was recently lambasted for using a 4-4-2 formation against Barcelona. Temporary QPR boss Ramsey deployed the same tactics for his injury-hit side at Selhurst Park – and his troops made Crystal Palace look like the Catalan giants during a 25-minute spell before the break. Ramsey, after his fifth game as a manager, said of the 3-1 defeat: “We knew where the problems would be. It’s well documented that Bolasie and Zaha are the danger players. The players knew it but didn’t deal with properly. “It was a lack of focus for a ten minute period. The players have realised there are only a certain amount of things you can actually do in preparation but you have to transfer it in the game.” Crystal Palace 3-1 QPR in pictures: After eight defeats in nine games, QPR are now four points from safety. It is difficult to claim there are three worse teams in the division after Saturday's display. “The club’s got a bit of a shadow over it,” Ramsey admitted. “Personally I need to stay as strong and positive as I can. If I start walking about full of doom and gloom then everyone else will start doing that." Matt Phillips’ 43-yard screamer after 83 minutes. “My goal is probably the best I’ve scored,” he said. “We were just a bit slow out of the blocks. The second half was more like us. We will continue to fight.”
"It was a lack of focus for a ten minute period" if that's all then should be no problems to sort it out & go on a winning streak until the end of the season
Is it me, or has every interview Ramsey has given since the Palace defeat sounded like he has given up? I know many of us think we won't stay up, but it's his job to stay upbeat and at least try to motivate the players, as stranger things have happened (not many I know).
Usually when players don't follow manager game plan it means they don't believe in what the manager is trying to do.
Ramsey "We knew it was a mammoth task to stay up. We are now relying on other people which you don't want to do. But, until we get to a mathematical point where we can't survive we are going to keep going". This is football speak for we are relegated!
He is spot on imo as first 15 we contained Palace and made the match scruffy however we didn't really get started ourselves and in 10 minutes it was done I fully agree with what he has said and second half we were better I don't think there is anything to give up on until the course has run You have to blame the players of course because there was a clear away tactic ... Under Ramsey I see tactics ok there are no results but we had neither under Harold We have a great squad let him use it Posters blaming SWP for our defeat on Saturday are wrong he got in the right places to help Furlong as and when I agree going forward he was also off the pace CR isn't afraid to try anything so expect a different set up against Everton ... It's another game and like all of them it's winnable Grabbing at straws with formations or new players or new managers is what? Guess work Work with what we have We didn't stop the crosses and quite rightly Furlong had to be replaced YSY also got caught with the basics and wasn't helped enough by Phillips Wide players drifting inside to lose that yard before ghosting away from what should of been much tighter tracking ... One on one both Palace wingers have the beating on most full backs in this league Stop that and you have a real chance We didn't combine that with really poor disapline in midfield to close down supply you have the answer We may well sit back against Everton as they move the ball sideways a lot It will be a completely different game Where Lukaku needs to be bullied Naismith needs a shadow maybe Barton will do that? Sandro can't Then of course we have our own game to trouble them if we turn up I see a **** load of tactics going on It isn't working but let the man work
Quite right they didn't follow his game plan or mine The game plan was to win...they didn't Perhaps it was because they played better than we did...just an idea I have put out there
I agree, CP are not a bad side since Pardew came on the scene. They beat West Ham 3-1 away just a few weeks ago. We had a very poor first half and a particularly awful 5 minutes where we handed them the game. I think we were OK in the second half, but we always seem rushed when we have the ball, there never seems to be a player in support to pass to. I really hope I am wrong, but on current form we will finish bottom. I hope Tony has the mettle (and funding) to stick around.
"The club's got a bit of a shadow over it", admitted Ramsey. Fill us in Chris. What is the shadow? Relegation?
... or they are just thick ... or they didn't bother to listen. Personally I don't think the players have it within them to intentionally go against the manager on the pitch because they "don't believe".
That makes me feel so much better, where are all those lemmings that constantly spout off - "Leave football, to football people - if you haven't played at International level, you don't know what you're talking about and whatever you state is rubbish"
Did we bollocks!! Why didn't we double up on the wingers like just about everyone else does in those situations? The treatment of young Furlong has been nothing short of disgraceful. Why not try keeping the ball for a bit in a tighter set up?
I love the way DT says under Ramsey he sees 'tactics'... Maybe the players are dyslexic and can only see tictacs...
