Didn't see it (Radio), but from what I heard you were weak in midfield and missed getting a battering due to your keeper and our below par finishing. I hope you stay up though. You've bough well and are entertaining. Unlike Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton.
Your lot were set out too defensively against a team who is struggling against the weaker teams, you need someone who can hold the ball up better as i seriously doubt Bothroyd as a Premier League striker. QPR didn't create many chances (wasn't really there prime aim) but atleast youve got a decent 3rd choice keeper, better than oour 3rd choice of either Gulcasi or Jones
In my opinion, you seemed set out for a narrow loss from the start. You played very deep and solid and with Cerny playing as he did, it was only ever going to be 1 or 2 nil to us. I do think Norwich are quite a bit ahead of you with the way they play and the same to Swansea, however you are far more solid than some teams in this league. Not forgetting that you will most likely buy and buy again in January, I think there is nothing to worry about.
I thought you looked solid defensively, compared to the other teams around the bottom (which I listed in the other thread). Attacking wise I thought you lacked a bit of creativity and ambition, but that's understandable as you were away at Anfield (not trying to sound arrogant but its true that Anfield is a tough place to come to, especially if you play open, attacking football). Thought your midfield struggled with the pace of our passing for most of the game and you desperately need someone who can put their foot in and stop opposition attacks if you want to establish yourselves as a midtable club in this division. If I was you I wouldn't worry about relegation, but I wouldn't hope for much more than just avoiding relegation judging by that team and on that performance.
I was sitting amongst the Liverpool fans in the centenary stand and they seeme genuinely quite impressed with our fans and the noise they were making (Liverpools fans were silent all game) but didnt understand our tactics. We went out and attacked Chelsea and Man City and gave a good account of ourselves, butoday we completely sat back and seemed to try and absorb all of Liverpool's pressure which with Gabbidon and Ferdinand as our CB was never gonna happen
Can't add much to this really. Certainly worked hard enough to suggest that if you carry on with that workrate you've got a great chance of staying up. Fans were a credit from where I was standing, passionate and vocal and in good humour throughout. Chatted to a couple of lads after the game and they were just buzzing to be getting trips away to the top teams (again not wishing to sound arrogant about it). Will be an interesting return fixture in March good luck to ya
Not nervous mate it's just always like that these days. I thought Kennys return would liven us up a bit but half the ****ers who go these days are too snobby to open their ****ing mouths either that or they're sat on their bloody mobiles all game...they do my nut in
Really difficult to assess Rangers performance on today's game because although it was only 1-0 that was mostly due to the wretched finishing we've been producing all season. We should really have had 3 or 4 and it wouldn't have been flattering. Think Liverpool outplayed you but then we've outplayed lots of teams this season and got worse results than today. Considering we have a weakened midfield I don't think you pressed them enough and seemed content to let them push forward on you. The defending for the one we did score was poor- Suarez lost the defenders too easily and if he'd missed it Kuyt was coming in behind him and Downing (I think) behind him. Both of these were equally unhindered by defenders. Having said all that, your realistic aim this season must surely be to consolidate and stay safely in the Prem, and I think you've got enough to succeed. Good luck for the rest of the season.
too defensively, Liverpool shouldmaybe have had 3 or 4, keeper was very good and finishing not so much, if QPR came out it would have been more than 1, they did well.
Modern day football fans It's just too expensive these days (football matches). I often find the more passionate fans turn up for the bigger games. I doubt that kind of fan would turn up if you were playing United or Everton for instance, same is true of us with Spurs or Arsenal. If you had a 2 goal cushion it would have been a better atmos
It's generally better for midweek games I presume because there aren't so many of the "tourist" fans....not that I can complain too much as I guess it's what keeps the money rolling in to pay the crazy wages
