QPR outcast Cesar welcomes Cagliari link By talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) | Tuesday, January 21, 2014 QPR outcast Julio Cesar welcomes Cagliari link but insists he has had no offers QPR outcast Julio Cesar would "love" to go to Cagliari - but admits he has yet to receive any offers during the first few weeks of the January transfer window. The Brazil international has been on the periphery at Loftus Road this season - his only appearance came in the 4-0 FA Cup defeat at Everton - and he looks unlikely to win back a first-team role under Harry Redknapp. A number of teams were linked with him last summer but he failed to secure a move away from the west London club. Cesar is still expected to be Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's first-choice goalkeeper at the forthcoming World Cup but the 34-year-old is keen to secure some much-needed match practice ahead of the showpiece event in his homeland. Cagliari are the latest side to be linked with him, and when asked about the Italian club's interest, he told TMW: "Cagliari? In Sardinia you live well, there's always the sun. I'd love to [go there], but honestly I have no offers at the moment. "We still do not know what I will do in the second half of the season - for now I think only about training." .. Photo by Scott Heavey/Getty Images Tuesday, January 21, 2014 1:26 PM Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino has revealed talks with Julio Cesar while the QPR keeper has admitted he would go there - but hasn’t had any offers yet. . .. The Brazilian has made just one appearance this season for the R’s and with the World Cup in his homeland on the horizon it is no secret that he wants to move in order to play regular football in the lead-up. “I spoke to Julio Cesar who is not playing at QPR and wants to go to the World Cup,” Cellino told Sardinian newspaper Unione Sarde. “He told me that he knows the team and would return to Italy.” Cesar told tuttomercatoweb.com: “Me to Cagliari? Sardinia is well, there’s always the sun, I’d like to go there. “Honestly, no offers have come in at the moment.” Rangers owner Tony Fernandes has today admitted that the 34-year-old Brazilian will most likely leave Loftus Road this month Fernandes told Sky Sports: “It’s a waste for someone with such immense talent not playing and I think he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so I’m sure someone will pick him up and let’s see how that goes. “We’ve gone with Rob [Green] because at the beginning of the season we thought Julio wouldn’t be there. Rob has come in and done a fantastic job and I think he could be pushing for an England place - he’s played really well. “Just look at the last game [a 2-1 home victory over Huddersfield on Saturday]. He kept us in the game till we came back and won. He’s been superb.” On doing any more business in the transfer window, the Malaysian businessman said: “We would like to strengthen it a little bit here and there but most of the work has been done we wouldn’t be second in the league with 52 points if we had lots of problems.”
It can't just be about the money. There has to be something else. He is desperate to play in the World Cup and I would have thought that he would have lowered his demands/expectations accordingly in order to get game time.
Yeah, he hasn't played for such a long time, any club, with the pockets to afford him, would be able to find better options. Hope there is some club out there desperate enough ??
Anyone taking him off our hands on loan is going to demand a heavily subsidized wage deal, or are we prepared to cut him loose on a free?
