QPR Not After Jermain Defoe Or Robbie Keane Says Harry Redknapp by Marco D'Onofrio 15h ago Jermain Defoe has been linked with his former manager Harry Redknapp’s Queens Park Rangers since late August. In recent weeks, Los Angeles Galaxy’s star striker Robbie Keane has also been pegged for a return to the Premier League with QPR. However, Redknapp told Sky Sports News in England that he hasn’t talked to either player. “We’ve not made an inquiry for Robbie Keane. I’ve not spoken to Jermain Defoe either,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News in England. “Robbie’s an amazing footballer, one of the best professionals I’ve come across. He’s gone over there and been the best player in the league, he hasn’t gone there for a holiday but he belongs to the L.A. Galaxy and is the star man of their team and league. We’ve never made an inquiry about him. They wouldn’t let him go. “I’ve never spoken to Jermain. I asked about him in the summer, but he was too expensive and the club wouldn’t let him go anyway. He’s a top player.” QPR are currently sitting just above the relegation zone in England’s top flight and could use some help in January. While Defoe looks likely to be making an exit from BMO Field before the start of next season, it remains to be seen whether Keane could be lured away from the current MLS Champions done deal then
I don't understand. There was a press release at the end of the summer window that basically said although there were complications with the deal the club would be tying up a deal for Defoe in January. Wasn't there? Senility must be setting in with either 'Arry or myself. Or both.
Just because he hasn't spoken to them doesn't mean he's not interested. In fact, I'm pretty sure there was another story with the same quote saying we were interested. Our attempt to get Defoe in August seems mysteriously downplayed (compared to club statements at the time). Hmmmm....
If Defoe does come, well have to watch our attitude. It's a team sport and he's just as likely not to be the player that saves us as he might be.
