QPR winger Matt Phillips has been given the all-clear following his ankle injury and can resume full training.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined since February but has been told he can play a full part in pre-season training, which began on Monday.

He joined Rangers from Blackpool last summer after his pre-season preparations had been ruined by a broken arm.

Phillips eventually worked his way back to fitness and was in good form before his campaign ended prematurely.

Alejandro Faurlin, out since November after suffering cruciate damage for the second time in as many years, can also train fully.

Both players could return to action in a friendly against German side Rot Weiß Erfurt next week.

Meanwhile, Rangers have had an offer for striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson accepted by Ajax and hope to sign Steven Caulker despite reports the Cardiff defender has chosen a move to Crystal Palace.

I wasn't overly impressed by Phillips' performances with us in the Championship. Hopefully he can develop into a decent Premier League player. Definitely has something to prove which is good and should make it interesting.

Quite difficult to judge, considering he was always either injured or coming back from injury.

Hopefully a solid pre-season will see him showing what he can do.

I agree, I wasn't totally impressed with Phillips, but recognise that the lack of preseason would have hindered him a lot - plus the arm break happening again at Yeovil away early on I think.

He did show glimpses though, so hopefully more of that will come through this season.

I thought a fully fit Phillips was perfect for the Championship. I suspect experienced PL defences may present a more difficult problem for his style but I hope to be proved wrong.

Phillips was our most dangerous player whenever he played, and he's scored hat-tricks in the PL before. Top player

Many players out as long as him are Sick Note 's on here.
Have difficulty in expecting much from him or Ale really especially in the PL. Hope to be surprised.

Harry Redknapp is planning to hold more talks with Steven Caulker later this week and is hoping a deal for Rio Ferdinand will persuade the Cardiff City defender to join Queens Park Rangers.

Newly-promoted QPR have agreed a fee with Cardiff for Caulker, who has also been linked with a move to Crystal Palace.

Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is waiting for the 22-year-old England international to make a decision and Redknapp is hoping that Caulker will opt for a transfer to Loftus Road.

Redknapp is also close to finalising the signing of Ferdinand and believes the chance to play alongside the ex-England captain will appeal to Caulker.

“Hopefully we can move things along with Caulker and we can have talks later this week,” the QPR manager told the Daily Telegraph.

"If you look at Gary Cahill, he has improved massively playing with John Terry and I believe Rio can do the same for Caulker. That’s a deal we would really like to get done."

    Harry Redknapp

“The prospect of playing with Rio Ferdinand in the centre of defence is something that will appeal to the lad. He’s a young player and he can only improve playing alongside somebody as experienced as Rio.

“If you look at Gary Cahill, he has improved massively playing with John Terry and I believe Rio can do the same for Caulker. That’s a deal we would really like to get done.”

Meanwhile, Redknapp is looking forward to the prospect of adding Ferdinand to his squad, with the centre-half expected to sign a one-year contract at QPR following his departure from Manchester United.

He added: “Rio has always been a class act and signing a player like him will give the whole place a lift.

“He’s never been a greedy lad and this deal is not about money. He’s still desperate to play in the Premier League and it will help that we’ve worked together in the past.“

Maybe my memory is worse than I thought and keep in mind that I'm halfway around the world BUT ........... I'm sure I heard earlier on in the piece that Phillips was putting some good games together before his got injured again.

Basically, that's two years of injury ravaged seasons for him ....................lets' hope he not only has an injury free season but by doing so, he can hit some form.
We want our main players to fire and only after injury, we want our loanee's to back us up.

The games Matty played I remember him being the most dangerous player we had on the pitch, having said that the EPL is a different place.

We need some players who will run at people, JNR and Matty fit the description, we shall see how well he has come back from the injury.

Hadn't Phillips been on a goal scoring run before injury? People have short memories, me included, but I tend to remember if there was a reason to slag someone off, or when they deserved praise and I can't remember having any reason to criticise Phillips. But as Vale said, well have to see how he's recovered from injury and how he copes in the EPL. But seeing as he's only just been given the all clear to train, it's going to take some months before he should be figuring in the team selections.
