QPR manager Mark Hughes aiming to replicate Evertonâs model QPR manager Mark Hughes insists the Hoops need to be patient, pointing to Everton's success under David Moyes ShareCommentsBy Kieran Beckles 10:44am UK, Sunday 21 October 2012 Mark Hughes' side are without a win in the Premier League this termPhoto: The Sport Review Mark Hughes believes Queens Park Rangers should try to emulate Evertonâs philosophy ahead of the Toffeesâ visit to Loftus Road on Sunday. The QPR manager has come under pressure in recent weeks after a winless start to their Premier League campaign despite 11 summer signings. Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with Hughesâ job, but the Welshman does not believe change would solve the clubâs current predicament. The 48-year-old pointed to Evertonâs success during David Moyesâ 10-year reign at Goodison Park, and Hughes insists stability is what QPR need at the present time. âLongevity is vital for a club. Certainly for one in our position which is only its second season after coming up from the Championship,â said Hughes. âYou need that continuity of players and management to enable you to grow as a group. Chopping and changing personnel is difficult, you need that understanding of how people work, standards and whatâs expected. That needs to be introduced over a longer period then weâve had at the moment. âWe just need to be calm and try to understand what weâre trying to do, and weâre confident that at some point weâll start picking up points. âThe game at the weekend is a test. The vast majority of teams we have faced so far have been in the top half, or started brightly. âA case in point is Everton. Theyâve had a really bright start to the season so it will be a tough test again. âBut weâve done the work going into the game and weâve got people back from injury, so I fully expect a good game against good opposition. We hope itâs a better outcome for ourselves in terms of results.â
That's not very subtle - talking about longevity and continuity in the players and... ahem... management team. Agree with the sentiment but it sounds a little desperate coming from him.
He's just after a last pay day like some of the "geriatrics" he's signed. Desparate spinning, should be ashamed of himself.
