QPR have made a £6million offer to Blackburn for giant defender Chris Samba. Neil Warnock wants the 6ft 4in Samba to shore up a defence which has leaked goals in a dismal run of six defeats in their past eight games but faces competition from Tottenham, with Harry Redknapp also a big fan of the Congolese centre-back. QPR are keeping an eye on Nedum Onuoha and Sebastien Bassong, in case they miss out on Samba, and want Wayne Bridge on loan, as Express Sport revealed on Wednesday. Fulham striker Andy Johnson is another target for Warnock, who could be in hot water with the FA after accusing referees of being “star-struck” by big-name players. Furious at the FA’s decision to uphold Joey Barton’s three-match ban and claiming players such as Frank Lampard, who escaped a red card in Chelsea’s win against Wolves on Monday, get an easy ride, he said: “Lampard knew what he’d done and said sorry – but it’s Frank Lampard. Lampard knew what he’d done and said sorry – but it’s Frank Lampard. Neil Warnock “It’s not like it’s Joey Barton looking at you as a referee. But it doesn’t make it right. “Am I surprised Frank Lampard commits a horrendous challenge and Peter Walton gives him a yellow card? “If that had been Joey, [Karl] Henry, or any Tom, Dick or Harry, would that have been a red or a yellow card? It’s absolutely farcical and I’m disgusted by it.”
This is the one player we need to sort us out, he's strong a natural leader and dangerous in the opposition box, I reckon a fit samba could be the difference between relegation and staying up, sign him up at all costs
I reckon its more likely spurs will get him and we will sign bassong. Suppose it all depends where Cahill ends up.
Imagine having centre backs of Samba & Collins both 6' 4" would scare the crap out of most attacks not to mention some goals from set pieces.
They'd be mad to let him go for that and he'd be mad to come here over some of the other clubs that would surely be interested.
I can't see Blackburn letting him go, but it would be a great signing... Having said that, he hasn't exactly kept out the goals for Rovers has he?
Plenty of transfer activity expected at Loftus Road this month and Sky Sports News sources understands Queens Park Rangers have offered in the region of £5million for Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur. He is the one player i would like us to sign, make him captain aswell to take the spotlight off JB.
I think we should just offer 10 million now and test their resolve before anyone else gets involved. It might be over the odds but god do we need someone like him. Him and Alex would be superb.
Its a good start, but I think it will end up around the 7 or 8mill mark.Hes probably one of the best CB's in the league,so can believe Arsenal or spuds wont come in for him?Harry just saying that Gallas is injured. Not suprised 1.5 turned down by Rovers for an inform goalscorer!. I suppose you have to start somewhere.Id say 3-5 would do it.
Erm, if what we need is a strapping 6'4" African defender who is able to intimidate the opposition and is effective at corners then dare I mention we still have Big Dan sitting around somewhere. I know many doubt his quality for the top level but Samba and Blackburn are not exactly setting the world on fire themselves. The grass is always greener...
Well if we get Samba, why not re-call ****tu and play them both! Opposition strikers would s**t themselves!
QPR have made a £5million bid for Blackburn defender Christopher Samba, Press Association Sport understands. The west Londoners have made no secret of their ambition to bring in new faces during the January transfer window as they look to stave off relegation. Press Association Sport understands a bid of £5million has been made for the Blackburn defender, who is also reportedly attracting interest from high-flying Tottenham. QPR manager Neil Warnock has openly admitted he needs to strengthen the squad, highlighting centre-back and attack as the key area for reinforcements. Having completed the loan signing of Manchester United striker Federico Macheda earlier this week, Warnock has now turned his attention to bringing in Samba to sure up his defence. Samba has been at Ewood Park since 2007, having joined from German side Hertha Berlin
