It seems qpr are having second thoughts in signing punch reason the million pund price tag. I know rumours were rife regarding gorkks being part of the deal and i feel if there was an ounce of truth in this then we should of made sure this deal happened. Why delay strengthening the squad unless we have no interest in gorkks at all, if this is the case why not sell punch for 750k with a sell on clause.
please log in to view this image ??? I think Gorkss pulled himself out of the deal, it was nothing to do with Saints.
We need to let Jason go out on a loan deal. He'll invariably do well, he always does at the start, then get a quick sale in January. This stalemate situation is doing no good to either party.
Sorry didn't realise we had even negotiated with gorkks, i still think the whole puncheon thing is dragging on to long now either give him a squad number and let him play or sell him
It's not officially confirmed obviously, but there were stories in the grapevine that he decided he would fight for his place at QPR rather than move. I think that halted the whole deal as it would have taken the transfer fee up and QPR probably wouldn't except giving just money for Puncheon. I reckon Cortese is probably holding out for the highest bidder and the best offer we can get, as he did with Chamberlain. However, I agree with the above, the closer it gets to the end of the transfer window, the more we should think about sending him out on loan if he's still here.
http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...f-move-for-southampton-winger-82029-29211484/ Not a very long article, but it would agree that interest has been cooled... however if this paper is as reliable as the echo, who knows?
The wonga on his shirt is very apt! Nicola is good at trying to wring the last penny out of a deal, but in this case I'd settle for less and save wages and effort.
I doubt Millwall will be back in for him now either as they've just signed another former Saint, N'Guessan I saw somewhere on the internet that an MK Dons loan move could be on the cards for Puncheon. Just rumour and missdemeanor as usual of course - but it would make me chuckle if it happened!
severely doubt he will drop lower than the championship. agree with everyone though - just get rid now, this has dragged on. one winger saga over lets nip this in the bud too.
You would have thought that his loan spells last season should have done that! Playing well in the prem, surely some higher end champ clubs should be showing more interest. I fear that it has become common knowledge of what he is like and it's a combination of that and Don Cortese probably asking for a bit too much cash!!
Could we not persuade Arsene Wenger to take him, after all, him and Chambo make a great playing partnership.
If we change Puncheons age to 17 on the players details, then maybe Wenger would pay £10 million for him?
Looking at this board, seems the Millwall fans are still keen on him http://www.millwall.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=86394&posts=12 According to one of them, he failed a medical because he dropped a TV on his foot, obviously doubt it's true, but very funny if it is!
Still three weeks of the transfer window left. We might not get £1 million for him, but i'm sure Cortese will get an improvement on any bid that has currently been made by the end of the month. We don't have to sell him and could always loan him out again if no bid comes in which matches our valuation
Maybe for the last three weeks of the transfer window we should all just write positive things about him & stop putting the football world off. Its our fault, all our fault!
I can see him being used as part exchange in any big money deals with championship clubs, he'd probably be quite useful for almost any club in the division (if he isn't having a tantrum...)
