QPR to Make Ambitious Move for Liverpool Striker Andy Carroll by Stuart Robinson August 13th, 2012 Loftus Road look to bring in yet another high-profile addition as the West London side plots advance for Anfield forward. QPR are reportedly readying an ambitious move to capture Liverpool forward Andy Carroll. The Loftus Road side have made a number of high-profile signings this summer and the clubâs co-owner is ready to finance a significant bid for the England international. Brendan Rodgers has seemingly made it clear that the former Newcastle United man is not part of his first team plans after Liverpool accepted an earlier offer from West Ham for the powerful forward but the new Anfield boss has told the 23 year old that if he puts in improved performances then he could yet convince the former Swansea City bossâs to change his position. However perhaps Carroll would prefer to push for first team football elsewhere, especially given his ambitions to cement a regular spot in Roy Hodgsonâs England plans. QPR are ready to offer a similar deal to that made by West Ham, with an initial fee being paid to seal a season long deal with the option to have first refusal on the permanent signing of the Gateshead born forward if Liverpool choose to offload the £35m man. Mark Hughes has been backed by QPRâs owners with funds to improve a squad that came very close to relegation last term. The former Man City boss has signed Robert Green, Andy Johnson, Ryan Nelsen on free transfers as well as landing Junior Hoilett and Park-Ji Sung from Blackburn Rovers & Man United respectively. Though Carroll is said to be interested in joining a side who can offer him European football he may feel that the ambition shown by the West London club is worthy of committing to a season long loan deal to. Rodgers is said to be looking to procure further attacking options having already signed Italian Fabio Borini and Carroll may well prefer to leave for pastures new on a loan deal over spending a season warming the Liverpool bench.
Whilst I don't particularly rate Carroll as a player I can't help but be p****** myself in excitement that we are being linked with players of his standing. Roll on Saturday before my head explodes in anticipation
I would love it - LOVE IT - if he came, always provided that it makes sense financially. This would be a real statement of intent. Despite his quiet spell earlier last season, he's a top player, in his prime, relatively young and with the prospect of further improvement to come. Hence, I doubt the rumour is true!
All Hughes has to tell him is that the ground is very close to La Mode hair and beauty Concept, down the Goldhawk Road. Bennet will love him.
Carroll & Cisse? 2 big target men??? I don't dislike Carroll, the weight of a £35m expectation upon his shoulders has plagued him, he's not as bad as he's portrayed. Not worth more than £10m in my book though (of course in Liverpool la la land they'll want double that!)
Would be a top signing, hes got something to prove and is better than Zamora. I would even like a permanent fee clause in the contract if its under £15m
Cisse is not a big target man. Agree they could work well together though. This really would be a statement of intent , just feel a step too far at present though.
Even if the rumour were true (not likely) we already have too many players with expectations of permanently being in the starting line up and Carroll would certainly fall into that category. I don't think we're big enough yet to keep top class players in the reserves without causing bad feeling in the camp. BTW does anyone know if we are going to actually participate in a reserves league this season?
Don't believe it either. But this is the calibre of player we need to cement our place in the PL, and start looking at the next step up which must be Euro League. We won't achieve this with the likes of Andy Johnsen and that NZ CB we brought in.
They're good squad players to have on board, we are aiming higher and are far better off than this point last year...
