Michael Harriman (R) celebrates after scoring Millwall 1-2 Wycombe Michael Harriman's stoppage-time winner completed a heroic giant-killing over Milwall to send Wycombe into the third round proper. Paul Hayes gave the underdogs a deserved lead before Ben Thompson's pile-driver levelled, but Harriman who had one effort ruled out for offside side-footed home in the 93rd minute for a famous win. Lee Gregory blazed over inside a minute for the League One hosts, but Wycombe recovered from this nervy start to produce the best two openings of the half. First, Sam Wood, who enjoyed an excellent game on the left played in a cross headed down by Harriman to Luke O'Nien who swivelled and shot forcing a fine one-handed save from Jordan Archer. Then, three minutes before half time, Harriman's ball in from the right found the recalled Aaron Amadi-Holloway unmarked to the left of the posts, but he poked his effort wide of the far post. Millwall emerged strongly after the break with Shaun Williams forcing a fine parry from Ingram, but Wanderers deservedly took the lead on 51 minutes when a long punt forward found Hayes in acres of room and he slotted a shot across Archer to the far corner. With Millwall stung into a response, the advantage lasted just seven minutes before the outstanding Wanderers rearguard could only half clear a cross from the left and Ben Thompson thumped a 25-yard drive beyond Ingram's left hand. Wanders thought they restored the lead when Harriman side-footed home Wood's cross with 65 minutes played only for a flag to rule it out. However, there was no denying the QPR loanee at the death as swooped on a ball in from the left to snatch the winner and spark jubilation among the Chairboys fans.
Can we start a list of players in our first XI he could fill in for and do a better job? Perch Konchesky Hoilett Phillips Petrasso (harsh) Harriman and Gladwin's loans make absolutely no sense to me considering the matchday squads we're putting out
I think that's a bit harsh Watford. Michael Harriman should not be filling in for anyone. He should be our starting right back!
Wycombe beat Millwall 2-1 in a replay in the cup of 2000/2001 - having achieved a 0-0 draw at the Den. They eventually went on to the semi-final only to be beaten by Liverpool. Now that WAS a cup run!
Hopefully JFH has seen some of the players we have out on loan 1st hand and will recall any he thinks can do a job for us.
That's why I find it odd that Gladwin's loan was extended. Who sanctions that when we don't have a permanent manager?
What's a DOF for if he don't do that sort of stuff, having talked to the incumbent Head Coach, Manager or a Colin of the day?
