"Queens Park Rangers have won the battle to sign Australian striker Peter Skapetis.

The 17-year-old is rated very highly in his homeland and is considered one of the best players for his age in Australia.

Skapetis had previously linked up with Birmingham, but he has now signed professional terms with Rangers after impressing during training.

Skapetis has now signed a deal with the Premier League strugglers through to 2014."

Can the Australians ppl around here tell us something about this guy?

Nick Ward was never played in his proper position by John Gregory, however this is the name that should send shivers down your spine NED ZELIC. The only Aussie that couldn't settle in London.

Let's give this new boy some encouragement rather than judge him by previous Aussie's that have played for us

Its a no lose situation, its not like hes on much but I hope we dont do what we did last time and big him up so much that a lot was expected of him, Nick Ward is exactly what came to mind for me as well.

Don't worry - he still arrives with my hopes and full support but those words (along with similarly optimistic selling points "The next...") just triggered my mind and WBA2 managed to fill the gap.

Zelic was a legend.... at least I assume he was in Germany to warrant his 1.5M fee. :0/

Sorry maybe I was being harsh but when you see the term 'Aussie starlet' bandied about you fear the worst. On a par with 'spanish teenage sensation' ......

I looked it up earlier - 11 and then he went (to Eintrecht Frankfurt or something - I lost interest).

Looked him up on google. Went to sports academy which I have heard is pretty average. Doesn't mention which junior club he played for so hard to see what he would be like! Nick ward is likely to be playing in the 4th division of state football in this country soon enough!!! USELESS!! Best thing he did was play the ball across to Ray Jones in the last minute at Cardiff for a 1-0 winner!!!!

Agreed, there isn't a player in the A-league I'd recommend us signing, really is League 1 stuff..if that

Could turn out to be the next Tim Cahill if we're lucky, but as i've not seen much of him here i wont hold my breath !

Can't remember the ages of Ward or Zelic but I am sure they were older than 17 this kid could be the real deal espicially with good coaching behind him. I heard he was 6'6"and built like a dunny out house and has been on a walkabout for the last six months to toughen him up a bit and could have played rugby league as a forward, does 100 metres in 10 seconds flat. :)

    Give the bloke a chance.

Did he once spend a gap year hitting cows' backsides with banjos, punching barn doors, finishing his meals and getting laid in brothels?

Got a great photo of a game when he played for Wesley vs Caulfield Grammar in 2009.

Oops, that was my son scoring his second AND the winner in a 2-1 game. Peter did open the scoring with a free kick though!!!

    Couldn't resist it!!!
