Morning Northolt. He summed it up by saying he produced similar copy last year re Derry and Hill signings. My attitude is that if Neil fancies him that's good enough for me, even though he doesn't always get everything right(eg Hulse!) he has no room for a similar type mis-signing and I do think he will come good for us.
Morning Twins ============================= BOTHROYD: ‘START OF SOMETHING SPECIAL’ Posted on: Wed 13 Jul 2011 Although the ink has hardly had time to dry on Jay Bothroyd's three-year contract with the R's, the gifted front-man feels that 'this could be the start of something special,' as Neil Warnock's men prepare for life amongst England's elite for the first time in 15 years. Bothroyd, 29, put pen to paper in W12 this morning (Wednesday) and will train with his new team-mates at Hampton School later today. In an exclusive interview with www.qpr.co.uk, the striker revealed that he can't get wait to get started. Article continues Advertisement Bothroyd said: "I'm sure all the lads will welcome me and I can't wait to be involved. "QPR's a great Club with a lot of history. "I was here as a boy when I was nine years old - this was my first Club before I went to Arsenal. Twenty years later, I'm back and it's good to be here! "Coming back to London played a big part for me too. I can be around my family, which is great. "The last time I played in London was six years ago. I can't wait to get going." The former Cardiff City striker saw Rangers at first hand last year, having twice played for the Bluebirds against Warnock's charges. Bothroyd even netted a spectacular opener in QPR's thrilling 2-2 draw in South Wales back in April. And he believes that, from what he saw, the R's have a fighting chance of doing well on their return to the top-flight next season - especially in front of a partisan Loftus Road crowd. "QPR were resilient last season and scored a lot of goals," Bothroyd said, "We've definitely got a chance of staying in the Premier League next year. "There are some talented players at the Club and I can't see why not. "When I came to Loftus Road with Cardiff last season, it was like a cauldron. "It was a great atmosphere, very intimidating. We need to carry that on next season. "Home form is always key - especially in your first season back in the Premier League. "Teams never really know what to expect when they come to Loftus Road. "When I came here last year, I got a bit of abuse and the fans made it a bit tough for me! "But now hopefully they can get behind me." And there can be little doubt about that. Under Warnock, the Loftus Road crowd have backed their team from the first kick until the last, and Bothroyd will be hoping that the support from the R's faithful can aid his - and QPR's - objectives next term. He added: "Last year I scored 20 goals. "I'm a forward, I like to assist and I like to be involved in build-up play and help others. "As long as I'm contributing week in, week out, then I'm happy. "The aim as a Club is to stay in the Premier League. "I think it's very important to do that in your first season and build on that. "This could be the start of something special."
Great signing. I tweeted him last night, welcoming him and looking forward to a great season that culminates in Euro 2012 - so he has another incentive to do well, as a great season and plenty of goals could see him back in the squad for next summer
Clive Whittingham doesn't fancy him much does he? lol. Great player. Massive improvement in a position that we're desperate in imo..... Good ambition shown by the board and hopefully this will lead to 2/3 others signing in the next couple of weeks.
Well done NW who, despite life being made difficult for him by management, has brought in an excellent player. Let's hope others follow Jay's lead...

Thanks Northolt, great signing. It is high time we had something to celebrate. OK, he is not Henri etc but we all knew that we were unlikely to attract top marque players even if the board opened their bottomless wallets. I think this makes keeping Taarabt a major aim for NW if he can. So far all the players from last year who signed extensions have been have been not great news. If NW can announce that Adel has extended, that would be a major marque signing as far as I am concerned. Perhaps we are not doomed after all and happier days beckon. Roll on 13th Aug.
I was quietly hoping we'd get this guy. He doesn't only get goals, he makes his presence felt, upsets defenders and brings others into play. Question is, has he really accepted a £25k per week wage (against the £50-65k he was demanding) or could it be the Goon's wage ceiling has fallen through already? With or without Taarabt, Bothroyd's signing doesn't satisfy our needs nor resolve our many issues, but it is a good, strong step in the right direction. Nice one. Well done silver-tongue Neil Warnock: between a rock and a hard place negotiating deals like this.
