(Photo by Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images) 2015 Getty Images Chris Ramsey is keen to make Nathan Byrne his third summer signing from Swindon. Rangers have already recruited Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin from the League One outfit and Swindon will sell Byrne, who scored a hat-trick on the opening day of the season, if they receieve a suitable offer. And QPR, along with Championship rivals Burnley and Huddersfield are keen to add the winger, said to be valued in the region of £1 million, to their squads before the transder window closes. “We’ve had a lot of interest for Nathan, a lot of clubs on the phone,” chairman Lee Power told BBC Wiltshire. “Frank (McParland, Burnley director of football) came down and sat with me at a game. They’re very strong on (Byrne). “It’s well documented that Queens Park Rangers and Huddesfield have shown an interest in Nathan. “We had that last year with Massimo (Luongo), Yaser (Kasim) and (Ben) Gladwin, but we held on to the until the end of the season. “If it’s right for the football club they’ll be sold, if it aint, then they won’t. It’s as simple as that.” Byrne began his career with Tottenham but left in 2013 after a string of loan spells with the likes of Crawley, Bournemouth, Brentford and eventually Swindon. He made 48 appearances for the Robins last season and scored four times, including a late strike in the play-off semi-final first leg. Good replacement for Hoilett if Ramseys hints after last night are anything to go by.....at least he'll put a shift in
Said before he'd be the ideal replacement if Phillips goes. Surely worth more than £1m though unless Swindon are desperate.
Whatever happens, it looks like we will be featuring heavily in the 'Sky Sports Transferfest Road Show'. Sadly there will be a few departures with, hopefully, some coming the other way. I guess Byrne might be drawn more to us because of the other two - assuming they were mates and liked each other!
If we keep going at this rate we'll have a half-decent League one team who can get to the Playoffs every few years
