QPR are weighing up an approach for Nigerian international Seyi Olofinjana as they gallop towards the final fence of a return to the Premiership. The 30-year-old midfielder has totalled ã8million in three transfers since his arrival in England, but only has one year left of his ã22k-a-week contract at Hull City when he returns from his season-long loan at Cardiff. http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...ity-s-on-loan-hull-midfielder-82029-28483608/ Maybe we can do a buy one get one free with Jimmy?
On the contrary, so long as they don't go up, it makes it far more likely that we'll be able to get Gerrard. Without promotion they can't afford Oli and without promotion there's no wage increase to worry about with Gerrard, so as long as they don't go up, we're laughing.
But if they do go up don't you think they would still want to keep oli who has premier league experince which might come in our favour when wanting a deal for Gerrard
Precisely for me it's a straight swap. They have something we want, and vice versa. Selling Oli to DQPR would weaken our hand.
I would have thought so Reece, but it depends how highly they rate him. Would be a good deal allround for us though, a straight swap Oli for Gerrard. Or QPR buy Oli and we can manage to do a deal with Cardiff, regardless of them going up or not.
If Cardiff don't go up, they can't afford Oli, so no deal would be done anyway. We're paying half his wages and we're not going to do that for another season, so unless Cardiff go up, we were always going to try and find another club to take him.
Oli won't struggle finding another club. He's been fantastic at Cardiff i'm suprised there's no lower PL clubs sniffing around him. Whats the situation with Hobbs going to be? I can't see us buying both Hobbs and Gerrard.
i think OLM's got the situation spot on. If cardiff go up, they'll want to keep oli and gerrards contract clause will kick in making it unlikely we'll get him. If they don't then they definitely won't keep oli, as for gerrard we'd have to watch this space. Not sure how much they've gambled financially on getting promotion this season, it may force a bit of a fire sale. with regards hobbs i'm not too sure. pretty sure sven was quoted as saying if they didn't go up then he still sees hobbs in his plans for next season. personally i think we'll end up with two of gerrard, hobbs and ayala.
I think Gerrard and Ayala would be almost too good to be true, but I'm yet to be convinced by Hobbs. I understand Pearson is meeting Mannone in a London hotel today to discuss his future. So fingers crossed.
i'd tend to agree but its a fit that would make sense for all parties concerned. i do think hobbs would come good eventually, pearson clearly knows how to get the best out of him.
I also thought Hobbs looked decent. However if it came down to Hobbs or Gerrard I would take Gerrard everytime. I also think Chester has been a great addition and I wouldn't really want to see him out of the side. The only bad game he's had was against Millwall which showed he is a terrible RB. Ayala was a class apart when he was with us and I would love him to come back. I highly doubt it though considering how Liverpool rate him.
Olofinjana only has one year left on his contract? Given his wages that's a bonus, which ever website it is that keeps track of our contracts (the list that someone linked to on the old 606 a while back) had him down as a 2013 expiry.
The sites that list our player contract details(HCO and hullcity-mad) both have Oli's contract finishing in two years, I think the article's wrong.
I don't think that page of the site has been updated for a while OLM i mean it still has ashbee, cousin, Caleb folan, geovanni and Peter Halmosi on there.
Are you sure you're not looking at an old page? Zayatte, Ash and Folan are yet to be updated, but I think the rest are about right: http://www.hullcityonline.com/players/contracts
If Caleb Followanhill and Ash were still here we'd be top. Did you know that? Seriously though, it's a shame Halmosi never got a chance with us at this level, especially if he'd been able to repeat what he did when he played for the Pirates of Plymouth Argyle (copyright, 'Viz' magazine 2006).
