QPR hitman Jamie Mackie ready for hard work on pre-season tour SCOTTISH striker Jamie Mackie is preparing for a load of hard work during Barclays Premier League team Queenâs Park Rangersâ pre-season tour of Asia. The QPR squad will play a friendly match against Kelantan at Shah Alam Stadium, Selangor this Friday and will also spend time in Indonesia before returning to England on July 25. The Râs will have three games during this pre-season tour, playing a Sabah Select XI today at Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Kelantan FC on Friday and Persebaya Surabaya in Surabaya, Indonesia on July 23. And Mackie knows the time spent in this region will be anything but a holiday. Up for it: Queens Park Rangersâ Jamie Mackie (centre) is preparing to give the Kelantan defence a hard time on Friday. âEveryone is really looking forward for the games but we are not going there to put our feet up and enjoy ourselves,â said Mackie ahead of the QPR tour in Malaysia and Indonesia. âWe are preparing for another season in the Premier League and we know we have to be in great shape when the first game comes around on Aug 18.â âWe know the three teams we are playing are going to be really keen to beat us. It might be right at the start of our pre-season but we will always have a competitive edge about us when we play.â âWhenever I play football, I want to win the game. And the rest of the lads are no different. I am sure thatâs the case for the opposing players too. â âSo it should make for three good games while we are out there.â And while Mackie, 26, enjoyed some well-earned rest after the incredibly dramatic end to last season which saw QPR secure Premier League survival on the final day, he is happy to be back at the Harlington training ground. âIt was nice to have a bit of a break but by the end of it, you are looking forward to playing again,â he added. âThe first few days of pre-season have been great, and it has been brilliant to meet all the new signings.â The new look QPR squad, which has seen manager Mark Hughes recruiting experienced BPL names, will include new signings Park Ji-Sung, Andy Johnson, Ryan Nelsen, Samba Diakite (permanent deal), Robert Green and the young Fabio da Silva (on loan). âNow we are ready for the tour and all of us are going to be working very hard while we are out there,â said Mackie
