QPR have agreed a deal to sign Kieron Dyer. Dyer was available on a free transfer after an injury ravaged four years at West Ham, in which he made just 30 league appearances. The 32-year-old, who cost the Hammers £6million back in 2007, is taking a huge pay-cut to stay in London with the Premier League new boys and has signed a short-term performance-related deal. Dyer, who spent last season on loan at Ipswich, has 33 caps for England but hasn't featured since 2007, when Steve McClaren was in charge.
what a waste of money. He does have talent, but is always injured. Is he on a pay as long as I stay fit deal / play deal I wonder.
a short-term performance-related deal. The above statement is key. If true, a gamble and hope works out better than Leon Clarke.
True Kerry, he is a good player , if he could get/stay fit. Don't think there's much chance of that though.
WE HAVE SIGNED A PLAYER, PEOPLE!!!!! OK, not the player we wanted, and a potential liability, but in his day he was good enough for 33 England caps, and as Ciarrai_Abu said, it looks as if we pay him if and when he delivers. If he does deliver the goods as he is capable of, then that's fine. If not, then I don't think that we need worry, because Neil Warnock won't suffer make-weights in his team and Dyer will be on his way sharpish.
Typical, isn't it? We have been linked with close on 100 players since the end of last season and the first one we sign didn't even make the list! This is a punt, but if it works out it could be really good. Performance related means he is probably on £5k pw with £200 per minute appearance bonus. (18k a game if he plays the full 90 minutes.)
I cant help thinking this is a bad move as well. Cant see him doing anything. Reminds me of when Nigel Quashie or Steven Reid came to us a few seasons ago. Players with absolutely nothing more to give!
It's a sensible, no-risk chance to see whether he has any of his old fire, I think there may be one or two other similar signings which will bolster the squad with a bit of PL quality, whether it proves successful is neither here nor there in the end as we'll only pay if they play and perform. Hopefully we'll have Bothroyd and Campbell on board in the next couple of days and we'll all be in a more positive mood for the new season. Now lets sort out some defenders...
Oh look everyone another signing!! Bring 'em in Neil. Don't wrap it, I'll wear it. Good news if fit and no pay if crocked.
Talksport are usually quite reliable. His previous nickname of '50k' will hopefully be no more and due to his terrible recent spells, he will be less arrogant and with a point to prove. May be lacking the old pace he used to have but the only advantage I can think of is that he will provide premiership experience. Hopefully papa Neil can work his magic.
