I feel embarrassed when you consider Chelsea won the league and get 99 million pounds and we get 64 million for finishing last ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...prize-money-Premier-League-title-success.html
The Premier League have announced the revenues for the last season. The reward for finishing top was almost 99 million pounds, however for our lowly last place we picked up a mere 64 million pounds. It will be interesting how our finances develop next season and what will be the final outcome of the FFP decision.
WOW! We can afford to keep Barton and SWP. Quick, someone get them on the phone. please log in to view this image What did I say?
How come 5th place got less than 6th? Something to do with facility fees? Nought to do with ground as we got same as Sunderland and more than Leicester !
We got loads this time because we achieved a remarkable double. Bottom twice in 3 seasons which when you think about it is pretty difficult to do.
That's because of the equal share of the TV rights. There is a big difference between fininshing top and finishing bottom. "The merit money is split depending on finishing position, with QPR getting £1,244,898 finishing in 20th place, and the clubs above getting that sum multiplied by the number of places they finished above QPR, up to Chelsea’s merit money of £24,897,960 for first place." That sounds fair enough to me. Big difference from the unequal balance you have in Spain.
The money was a reward for success, getting promoted. The price for failure will be felt next season.
Does our squad get a share of this £64 million pound bonus? Ultimately they all played their part in helping QPR secure this handsome pay out. please log in to view this image
This is nothing less than a scandalous disgrace. If the payment relates to TV, which is largely Match of the Day for most of the public (I'd guess), we have created more satisfaction for other supporters than any other PL team having conceded ten more goals than the next worst team. Indeed, by my reckoning we have earned £888,849 per goal shipped. Chelsea have earned £3,093,736 per goal let in. Accordingly, we are far better value than Chelsea and something of a bargain for the Premier League. Frankly, I think the PL will struggle next year to find anyone even nearing the lofty (apologies for pun) standard we have set.
I fully support this view. No club in the PL last season has been responsible for more goals (sadly, few of them scored by us) and thus we must come top in the "fall-guy" entertainment league. If boxers can make a fortune by taking the blows and being carried feet first from the ring, then we deserve every thing we get.
The 'facility fee' relates to Sky appearances, so we were on more than some of the other also-rans. Looks like each appearance was worth roughly £750k. I'll bet we still post a loss on our accounts...
We're by far the most efficient team with only about 2% (forgive me - maths done in head) actually merited by playing football.
Sorry, is this separate to the parachute payments. And another question about parachute payments, how much over how many years. I thought it was three years?
