EXCLUSIVE: QPR fury at Kenny's 'abusive' phone rant after Swansea drubbing By Neil Ashton PUBLISHED: 22:30, 22 August 2012 | UPDATED: 22:30, 22 August 2012 .. QPR have made a formal complaint to Leeds accusing goalkeeper Paddy Kenny of sending a series of abusive messages to a member of their management team. Kenny, sold by Rangers to Leeds in the summer, is said to have been mocking QPR after the 5-0 home defeat by Swansea on the opening day of the season. His replacement, Rob Green, made a howler to concede the opening goal on his debut following his move from West Ham. It is said a number of Kennyâs messages were of an aggressive nature. The messages were supposedly sent on Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday morning. Kenny had played in goal for Leeds during their opening Championship win over Wolves earlier in the day. Leeds are believed to be investigating the complaint. Rangers sold Kenny to Elland Road for £900,000 in the summer. He made a mistake in their last game of the season at Manchester City that could have seen QPR relegated and was allowed to move to Leeds and rejoin Neil Warnock, who had been sacked by Rangers. The latest text row comes after Sportsmail revealed how Kevin Pietersen had sent messages to the South Africa dressing room about his captain, Andrew Strauss. Kenny was in the QPR side promoted after winning the Championship in May 2011. QPR owner Tony Fernandes has been informed of the Kenny incident and has asked to be kept fully up to date with developments. If QPR are dissatisfied with how Leeds deal with the matter, they could ask the FA to discipline the keeper. Kenny linked up with Warnock for the fourth time when he moved to Elland Road. He spent the previous two campaigns at QPR under Warnock and eight seasons at Sheffield United, where he failed a drug test after testing positive for ephedrine. He was banned for nine months by the FA. In the past: Kenny worked with Leeds boss Neil Warnock at QPR He was also involved in a drunken fight with his friend at an Indian restaurant in Halifax, in which his eyebrow was bitten off. Warnock also signed Kenny for Bury. Leeds refused to comment when contacted by Sportsmail on Wednesday night. A complete prick, not quite on a Barton scale but getting there. Pub fights, drugs ban, winding up opposing fans while playing, leaving Sheff U after they stood by him after the drugs ban and now this. The guy is a total bell end and not a very good goalie. The funny thing is that getting rid of him must really hurt or he wouldnt do it. He is still obsessed with QPR even though he plays for "massive Leeds"
And to think a lot of people (including a few on here) stuck up for the fella. Shown his true colours.
I hope people learn from this and never get attached to players in the future. Most of them are cu*ts and the one's that aren't are still paid disgraceful sums of money. I couldn't care less about any of our players. As far as I'm concerned, they're all a bunch of *****rs.
We'll always get attached to players Swords. It's the nature of fandom. They carry so much of our hopes which is why we we're here. As to whether they're ****s or not? Surely that's a reflection of us and the sort of people we, as a society "produce"? It's embarrassing to see the overseas pundits like Seedorf sitting in a studio talking engagingly and coherently about football in a third (?) language, while one of the best footballers I've ever seen from these shores stalks a psychotic murderer with a can of lager, a chicken and a mobile phone. **** me. Still we've always got Joe. The money they earn? I despise it viscerally, I really do. But here's one for you. Would you turn it down? "If someone's dumb enough to offer me a million to make a picture, I'm not dumb enough to turn it down."
Great post that Tel. I must clarify its the modern pro footballer I'm not overly fond of and not just our own players. I love the Club but as far as the players are concerned, they're just a number to me. You make a great point that they're just reflective of us: Average blokes, some good some bad, that just happened to make it big. And you're correct, if anyone turned down that money they'd be crazy. Ironically, I like poor ole Gazza!
Me too bud. I think Nines posted some pics a while back. Apart from Hoddle, I don't think an English player ever excited me as much. One overlooked game of his was the 0-0 against Holland in Italia '90. He was so good. What a waste.
Absolutely. Remember his game against Scotland? Brilliant. Also the way he wound up Celtic fans by playing his imaginary flute was classic!
Strange little man. Does he not know that voice mail stays on the phone and can be used as evidence?!!
Cringeworthy that QPR decided to grass to the FA about it. Poor souls who received the texts must have been very offended. Aww.
"QPR have made a formal complaint to Leeds..." "If QPR are dissatisfied with how Leeds deal with the matter, they could ask the FA to discipline the keeper.", but not saiying they will.
I reckon you've hit the nail on the head Flyer. Reminds me of Barton's tweets about Newcastle after he joined us.
They basically want a non-QPR player to be punished for sending a couple of text messages. How pathetic is that? Either take it on the chin or give some back, but no need to start threatening FA involvement and crying to the nearest Daily Mail hack they could find.
I have no idea what you're dribbling about. I'm here to discuss football, and I suggest you do the same.
