A 1 - 0 win. According to that report our forward didn't get the support he deserved and we should have won by more, hmmm, sounds familiar.

Excuse my ignorance here mate, but are we still using those same floodlights, or have they been replaced?

    Thanks Bushy.

They were replaced when the current stadium layout was completed around 1982 I think. The original fllodlight towers were similar to electricity pylons, in design.

Used to be able to see the floodlights that were put up in the mid 60's from the back of our house soaring above the roof tops....that 65/66 season review is fascinating, the game against Brentford at the end of January was the first game my father took me to, don't remember anything about it except we won 1-0 (nothing changes!).

Don't know if it is fact or fiction but those newer lights (mid 60's) were once the tallest and most powerful lights at any ground, they used to leave them on half power until just before kick off, except one game against Leeds (?) in our 68/69 1st Division season when they forgot to switch them to full power, the game kicked off and Leeds scored almost straight from the kick off, the lights were then switched to full power only to see the R's keeper (either Ron Springett or Alan Spratley (?)) Bushman will confirm, picking the ball out of the net.....needless to sat we lost as we did most games that season.....

For a short while they were.
Mick Jones scored. Mike Kelly was in goal. Leeds won 1-0.

Fantastic Bushman - a great selection of photos from that era when a few of us here began following the R's - would be nice tomorrow against Doncaster if we could re-create that 7-2 victory over York City in the game played Jan 1st 1966.
