IRELAND TOUR BLOG: QPR FANS AMAZE HOTEL STAFF PUBLISHED 22:12 4th August 2014 by @QPRFC QPR host open day â and Carton House are left shocked by the incredible turn-out! ON THIS, our final daily blog before matchday tomorrow and our return to London, QPR held an open training session at Carton House, the team hotel in Co. Kildare. The hotel staff â who have been fantastically helpful throughout our stay â were left stunned by the sheer number of Râs fans who came along to watch the training session and meet the squad, as more than 800 showed up! One member of the hotel team confessed: âWeâve had Real Madrid here before, and they didnât have this number of fans come along!â Over the last 12 months, a real closeness seems to have developed between the supporters and the players, and that was so evident today when the entire squad spent more than an hour signing autographs, posing for photos and generally have a chat with all the fans who had come along. The reaction on social media since suggests the supporters who attended had an enjoyable time, and that was shared by the players themselves who seemed equally surprised by the numbers! After lunch, Steve Black held a meeting with the QPR squad to further prepare them for the new campaign, telling them what to expect, and what to strive for as we aim to safeguard our position in the top flight. In the afternoon, a contingent of players got out on the golf course as they relaxed ahead of tomorrow eveningâs game at Athlone Town (remember, itâs a 6pm kick off if youâre going!). Rio Ferdinand carried out a photoshoot in one of the many stunning rooms at Carton House and demonstrated he had clearly done one or two of these before! By early evening, the hotel was empty of player activity. After an enjoyable day with the fans, and with their final game of the tour coming up tomorrow, it seemed to be a case of another early night for the Râs squad.
